Today we said goodbye to this little lad.
Muffin has been staying with us the last few months while his owners were doing a big house move. He was a previous client and his owners were worried with such a long, busy upheaval.
Of course we could help out.
He was very happy staying and none the wiser to all that was going.
We wish you all the best in your new home.

🪰🪰🪰🪰There seem to be an awful lot of flys around this year. 🪰🪰🪰🪰
We find these traps work really well in catching them and preventing them coming in the house and around the piggies. We also hang one out by the bins.
We have found these to be the most effective in catching the flies compared to other types of catcher.
We get ours from Amazon but we are sure you could also get them elsewhere.

We had these little chaps for bonding over the weekend.
We are pleased to say all went well and they are now settling in at home together nicely.

Look at these little beauties we had born with us on Thursday. An extra surprise for the females new owners, and as things often don’t go as planned, timed to be born while the owners were on holiday.
We loved having them all stay and to be part of such a special moment.
They are just 1 day old in the video. It’s wonderful how all members of a group help take care of youngsters. The grey guinea pig is not actually their mum. She is the ginger one off to the side.

We love the ideas and tips on BCC Forage For All.
Forage is the cheapest and healthiest fresh feed option.
If you are not 100% sure on the plant we advise not to pick and feed. Some phone plant identification apps can also identify plants wrong so do be careful.
There are so many options available though, we are sure you can find a good selection you are sure of.
BCC have lots of great pictures and identification tools. Definitely worth a look.
We are sure your piggies will love it.

We would like to reach out to you lovely people.

We are helping someone whose piggie recently lost his pal. He is a mature but active lad at 5years old and his owner is looking for a male of a similar age to go live with them to live out the rest of their days together.
They are a great home and we will offer support through the process.

We also have someone looking for a great home for a pair of 2 year old females. They will need to go to an indoor home and are used to lots of space and attention.

The guinea pigs have something called Streptococcus.
It is a zoonotic illness which means it can pass between animals and humans. Some guinea pigs can carry the bacteria without showing symptoms and pass on to others making them sick.
If you have recently purchased guinea pigs from pets at home. Please isolate as soon as possible and get in touch with your local store or Vet for advice and treatment.

It's not yet known how many of the company’s 400 stores have been affected by the ban

Check on those outdoor piggies!

We are not here to debate the fore and against inside vs outside right now but the temperatures are well below 0 right now in the uk! If you have any piggies outside you need to ensure they are warm and safe! At the very least they need an indoor area which is warmed and away from the elements but we should also be doing the following several times a day:
- ensuring water does not freeze, particularly the spout which will stop them accessing water
- provide extra warm sources. Heat discs, wheat bags and heat mats work well for this. Even better is a heater in an outhouse area
- add plenty of bedding in for warmth to snuggle into and keep any winds off them
- check your piggies are well and acting normally. Elderly, unwell and the very young are likely to struggle more in these temperatures
- bring struggling piggies indoors and if needed seek veterinary advice.

Stay safe out there. It’s going to be chilly for another few days yet.

This popped up on my memories on my personal facebook today, from 9 years ago.
About the only decent Christmas cake decorating I have managed.
Featuring my piggies at the time, Woolly pig, Black pig, Brown pig, Teddy and Roxanne.
Other than Roxanne, they all had names describing their features as children were involved in the naming 😂
