Meet Sherlock 🕵️♂️❤️
This was Sherlock’s third visit with me, and we’re still getting to know each other.
Sherlock is a sensitive boy who finds grooming quite overwhelming at times. One minute he’s happy for me to clip away, the next he’s convinced the world is ending and lets out a scream worthy of an Oscar nomination. 🎭😂
The reality of grooming nervous dogs isn’t about rushing to get the haircut done. It’s about patience, trust, tiny wins, and meeting each dog where they are.
Sometimes that means putting the clippers down and simply letting Sherlock hear them. Sometimes it means running them over his coat without a blade attached, just to show him they’re not so scary. Sometimes it means taking a step back so we can move two steps forward.
It’s not always easy, and it can be stressful for both of us, but every visit brings a little more confidence and a little more trust. And honestly, those small victories mean everything. ❤️
When Sherlock first came to me, his coat was so matted that the only kind option was to clip it all off and start fresh. Today, we’re no longer battling mats — we’re building trust. 🐾
So here’s to Sherlock, one brave step at a time. I’m very proud of you, little man. ❤️
