Introducing Mystic: Our Patient of the Month
Meet Mystic, who recently visited us in quite a distressing situation.
She arrived home for breakfast with blood coming from her tail, prompting her owners to rush her to our clinic. After a thorough examination, we discovered that she had suffered a de-gloving injury to a portion of her tail.
To prevent infection and other serious complications, it was necessary to amputate Mystic’s tail at the site of the injury.
Cats are remarkably adaptable, and Mystic is already on the road to recovery. She will need to stay indoors until she is fully healed and will gradually learn to adjust to her new tail over time.

I am a veterinary nurse.

I am a radiographer, laboratory technician, phlebotomist, anaesthesia monitor, patient advocate, surgical nurse, recovery nurse, medication administrator, inpatient carer, dental nurse, nutrition supporter, behaviour comforter, intensive care provider, emergency responder, and end-of-life companion.

I hold paws through fear, celebrate recoveries, comfort families through heartbreak, and care for every patient as if they were my own.

No two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly why we do it. 💙🐾

We know everyone is looking forward to the long-awaited heatwave this weekend, but high temperatures can be extremely dangerous for pets, especially dogs being walked in the heat.

Please think carefully about when, or even if, your dog needs a walk over the bank holiday weekend. Missing one walk won’t do them any harm, but heatstroke can.

Early mornings and late evenings are the safest times if a walk is necessary, and always check pavements before heading out. Stay safe and keep your pets cool.

A lovely way to kick off the week 💙

The key themes of this year are compassion and empathy — two qualities every veterinary nurse brings in abundance. 💚

Being a VN means showing up every day with kindness, care, and understanding, supporting both pets and their owners through every stage of their journey. 🫶🏼
