GREYS. finding homes for hounds GREYS is a non-profit retired greyhound rehoming kennels based in March, Cambridgeshire.

Get in contact to find out more about our dogs that are looking for homes 🐾 At GREYS our aim is to find homes for Greyhounds who have recently retired from racing. These greyhounds have owners and carers who are very proud of them and respect them as the true athlete they are, from bottom grade right to the top these dogs have given us their all & we will continue to do the same for them whilst th

ey wait in their familiar environments with all their known comforts and routines around them. These dogs are already cared for - they just need homes and need to get noticed! GREYs can give you their full history and discuss the dogs needs and what you have to offer... home visits or references will be asked for. We will be your constant contact for the dog and will always back up the homing agreeing to take the dog back if needed...

The dogs are in good conditions, upto date with vet work including neutered and often no donation is required - just a good home. GREYs dogs will be retired with their own collar and lead set, Arden grange bag of food and a new muzzle. We’re proud to be part of the Greyhound Retirement Scheme (GRS) which helps ensure that every greyhound leaving racing enjoys a long and happy retirement. This scheme is overseen by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) which is the regulator for licenced greyhound racing in Great Britain. Under the GRS, a £420 bond – paid for jointly by owners and GBGB – is attached to each newly registered racing greyhound. This means that the financial costs of homing a greyhound are met before their racing career even begins. The full bond is unlocked when a greyhound enters an approved homing centre, like our own, and goes towards the costs of kennelling, feeding and caring for the greyhound until a home is found.

​Glenn is a quiet boy who is looking for his perfect match. He has a wonderful temperament and gets on well with children. He is a social guy who enjoys the company of other greyhounds, making him a fantastic option if you already have a larger hound at home!

Our current resident Thor (Droopys Metaphor) is officially turning 4 years old today!

Thor’s biggest birthday wish this year is to find a forever home of his own, and he promises he will make a wonderful companion. He is an absolute sweetheart who loves kids and playtime, and he already walks beautifully on a lead.

He gets along wonderfully with his fellow greyhounds and is currently doing a good job learning how to interact calmly and politely with other breeds.

"I'd love to rehome a greyhound, but..."

Lately, we’ve seen many wonderful dog lovers say they hesitate to reach out because they are worried they didn't meet the "perfect" criteria. We want to clear the air: We don't look for flawless checklists. We look for loving homes where our dogs will thrive!

If you've been holding back, here is the truth about our hounds and how we work:

🏡 "I don't have a massive garden" - Many greyhounds are ultimate couch potatoes. A couple of short, 20 minute walks a day to do their business and have a sniff around and they are perfectly content to sleep the rest of the day away. Many live happily in flats and houses with small courtyards. However, if you are looking for a more active hound to go on hikes, have fun on an agility course or win some rosettes at a dog show, we can also match you up with your perfect companion!

💼 "I work full-time." - While they love company, many retired racers adapt beautifully to a routine and are incredibly independent. If you have a plan for a midday dog walker or a lunch break visit, we are happy to help find you a suitable hound (or 2!)

🤔 "I’ve never owned a dog before" - Greyhounds are frequently recommended as fantastic first-time dogs because they are naturally gentle, quiet, and don't require hours of intense training or grooming. Many Greyhound owners will tell you that once you open your heart to a Grey, you'll never be without one again ♥️

🐱 "I have a cat (or a small dog), so I know I can't have one." - While some greyhounds have a high chase instinct, many of them are cat tolerant or can live happily with smaller dog breeds. We thoroughly test our dogs with cats, small breeds and children and are completely transparent with the results!

Our kennels currently have some absolute superstars waiting for their sofa. Every dog is unique, and we match the dog to your specific lifestyle - not a rigid set of rules.

🎂 Happy 5th Birthday to littermates Sully (Givemeabreak) and Jake (Song Sung Blue)! 🎂

There is nothing quite like seeing our former residents absolutely thriving. Today, these two handsome brothers are celebrating their big days! Though they now live in separate homes, their amazing families both went completely above and beyond to make sure their big day was special.

It’s safe to say they have both truly landed on their paws:

🥳 Jake had a busy morning with a coffee shop trip and a private field booking, before retiring to his massive new birthday bed to enjoy a gourmet steak dinner! 🥩

🥳 Sully skipped the steak for his ultimate weakness - a giant birthday sandwich stacked with peanut butter and sprats, which left him drooling with joy! 🥪🤤

And because they're brothers, they naturally had to match from afar with brand new octopus toys for their big day! 🐙

Happy 5th Birthday, boys! A huge thank you to both of their wonderful families for giving them the best retirements possible ❤️

If you are looking for a handsome, happy, and incredibly loving companion to complete your family, Olly is ready to step into your home!

Olly has a massive heart and absolutely loves everyone he meets. He is incredibly versatile and well-mannered, proving himself to be brilliant with children and fantastic with other dogs. He has been doing brilliantly on his meetings with our resident corgi and gets along well with other Greyhounds.

He is always up for playtime and never turns down a tasty treat!

Thor is an absolute master of getting cosy - now he just needs a forever home to do it in! 🏡

Thor is a lovely, affectionate greyhound who quite literally loves everyone he meets. He is fantastic with kids, loves to play, and is a total dream on the lead. He gets along wonderfully with his fellow greyhounds, and while smaller dog breeds can still make him a bit too excited, he’s making fantastic progress every week.

​Best of all for his future family, he is incredibly clean in his kennel, showing he's well on his way to mastering house training!

If you have a spot on your sofa, a big heart for a fun boy, and a steady supply of his absolute favorite treats, Thor might just be the perfect addition to your family!
