As Vet Nurse Awareness Month comes to an end, we wanted to give a little behind-the-scenes look at life as a Veterinary Nurse 🩺🐾

From cuddles and consults to monitoring anaesthetics, caring for in-patients, cleaning, prepping, reassuring worried owners and everything in between — no two days are ever the same!

Our nurses work incredibly hard every single day to care for your pets, and we’re so proud of the amazing team here at Gourley’s 💙

Billy is always all smiles when he comes to visit us 🐾💛
He popped in for his booster vaccination today and made himself right at home in the waiting room! Safe to say he’s everyone’s favourite patient of the day 🐶✨

Harry clearly decided the exam table was the coolest spot in Denton yesterday😹🧡 Keeping comfy and chilled during his Healthy Pet Club 6-month check with the nurse! 🐾

Regular nurse health checks are so important for spotting little changes before they become bigger problems 🩺🐾

☀️🐶 As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that dogs can struggle in the heat much more quickly than we do. Even on what feels like a mild day, heatstroke can become a serious emergency.

At Gourley Veterinary Surgeons, we recommend:
🐾 Walking dogs early morning or later evening
🐾 Avoiding intense exercise in warm weather
🐾 Making sure fresh water and shade are always available
🐾 Never leaving dogs in cars, even for a few minutes
🐾 Watching for signs of heatstroke such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting or collapse

Flat-faced breeds, older pets, overweight dogs and puppies can be especially at risk. If you’re worried your pet may be overheating, contact your vet immediately.

Stay safe and keep those paws cool this summer 💙☀️

🚨FOUND dog, female Pug found on Frederick Street, Denton and brought into the Denton surgery this evening 🚨

She is microchipped but the chip details are not up-to-date and still registered with the breeder. If this is your lovely, sweet dog or you know who’s she may be then contact the Denton surgery on 0161 368 2559 in the morning. She is safe and well and has had plenty of cuddles 🥰

* proof of ownership will be required*

Not every day we get to see a bundle of adorable young rabbits in for their vaccinations! 🐰💉
These little ones were all very brave and enjoyed plenty of fuss from the team during their visit. Rabbits may be small, but keeping up to date with vaccinations is a big part of keeping them healthy and protected. 🤍
