🐾 We often think dogs need more.

More exercise.
More enrichment.
More training.
More stimulation.

But sometimes what they need most is consistency.

Regular toilet breaks.
Predictable routines.
Calm handovers.
Time to rest.
People who understand their individual needs.

When those basics are in place, many dogs become calmer, more settled, and more confident.

As pet owners, it's easy to feel guilty that we're not doing enough. I see it all the time.

But often the things that make the biggest difference aren't complicated or expensive. They're the small, consistent things that help dogs feel safe, secure, and able to predict what comes next.

The basics might not be exciting, but they're incredibly powerful. 💜🐾

🐾 Service Update – Thistle & Tails 🐾

A huge thank you to all my wonderful clients for keeping me so busy. 💜

To ensure I can continue providing the calm, consistent, high-quality care that Thistle & Tails is known for, I am now closing my books to all new clients for 1:1 pet care services.

This includes cat sitting, small animal care, drop-in visits, day sits, overnight stays, and individual dog walking services.

All existing clients and any meet and greets already booked into my diary are fully accounted for and unaffected by this update.

These services are currently fully booked, and I will review availability again in September.

📅 Planning ahead?

If you're looking for pet care from October onwards, you're very welcome to message me. Getting in touch early allows plenty of time for us to arrange a meet and greet and make sure we're the right fit for both you and your pet.

🐕 Wednesday Group Walk Availability

I will be opening 2 small Wednesday group walk spaces from August:

• Lunch-time group
• Afternoon group

These walks are ideal for friendly, well-socialised dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs and would benefit from a regular weekly adventure.

As always, group sizes remain small so every dog receives the same thoughtful, attentive care they're used to.

Sun’s out… so get yourself out there and enjoy it! 🌿
Self care looked a little different for me this week - a day out with my wife at the FUME BBQ festival 🔥

Proper BBQ brisket, melt-in-your-mouth short ribs, a few G&Ts… and yes, a slightly fuzzy head today 😅

And you know what? Totally worth it.

Because self care isn’t just face masks and early nights…
It’s laughter, good food, fresh air, and making memories with the people you love 💜

✨ Remember:
Self care isn’t selfish - it’s non-negotiable.

👉 You need it
👉 You deserve it

It’s been very dog-heavy on my page recently 🐶… but I’m lucky enough to care for so many lovely cats too 🐱💜

I absolutely love building relationships with cats – earning their trust, learning their personalities, and making them feel safe and comfortable means so much to me.

To make sure I’m giving them the very best care possible, I’ve now signed up for a specialist feline first aid course so I can build my knowledge even further.

🎶 Out of Office 🎶

From 17th June to 24th June, I'll be swapping dog leads, pet bowls, and spreadsheets for live music, camping chairs, questionable festival food, and hopefully some sunshine! ☀️🎵🍻

My wife and I are heading off to the Isle of Wight Festival, one of our favourite annual (we try) traditions and something we look forward to all year.

As much as I love what I do, I also believe that rest matters. So during this time I'll be completely switched off, spending time with my favourite human, listening to great music, and recharging my batteries.

📩 Messages, emails and enquiries will not be monitored during this period and I'll respond to everyone from 25th June onwards.

🐾 If you're looking for July or August bookings, particularly as August availability is becoming limited, please get in touch before I head off so we can get everything arranged.

🐾 Most pet owners think they're asking about prices, availability, or overnight stays.

What they're really asking is:

"Can I trust you with someone I love?"

The practical questions matter, of course. That's why these are the five things I'm asked about most often:

💰 Prices
📅 Availability
🐶 Nervous dogs
🐱 Scared cats
🏡 Overnight stays

But behind every enquiry is usually a pet owner looking for reassurance.

Someone who will respect their pet's personality, maintain their routines, communicate clearly, and provide thoughtful, consistent care when they can't be there themselves.

That's what matters most to me.

A quick availability update:

✨ I still have availability for new bookings from July onwards.
✨ August availability is now very limited, particularly for pet sitting and drop-in visits.
✨ Overnight stays are currently reserved for existing regular clients.

If you're planning ahead for summer holidays, autumn breaks, or looking for regular support, it's always worth getting in touch sooner rather than later. 💜🐾

✨ A new look for Thistle & Tails ✨

I’m so excited to finally share the new Thistle & Tails logo 💜🐾

My uncle designed it based on the ideas and vision I had, whilst keeping the heart of my original logo. I wanted something refreshed and more “me”, without losing my voice or the personality behind the business - and he captured that perfectly.

The cats in the logo are actually my own cats, Charlie and Luna, who inspired Thistle & Tails from the very beginning 🐈🐈‍⬛

The Thistle was really important to me too. As a Scot, I wanted something connected to my heritage (and a highland cow didn't fit) and I’ve always genuinely loved thistles 🌸

And “Tails” felt perfect because animals communicate so much through their tails. Anyone who truly knows animals understands they’re always talking to us in their own way 🐾

More than anything, I wanted the logo to reflect who I am and what Thistle & Tails stands for - personal, honest, caring, empathetic, homely, relationship-led, and always welfare-led.

I didn’t want something that was just a logo. I wanted something meaningful. Something that felt like me 💜

I honestly couldn’t love it more.
