4 clips. 1 goal — clear communication. 🐾

Two of these recalls are using an e-collar, and I feel strongly about the benefits when they’re used fairly and correctly. E-collars can provide clarity, consistency, and communication at a distance, helping reduce conflict and confusion for the dog.

Whether a dog is friendly, nervous, reactive, or neutral — training tools should be chosen based on the individual dog and used responsibly to create reliability and freedom.

A trained recall isn’t just obedience… it’s safety. šŸ¤

Most people don’t realise their dog trainer is the problem… until it’s too late.

Here are a few red flags that should make you pause:

If a trainer doesn’t have a solid ā€œstoogeā€ dog they can demonstrate with, that’s a concern. It’s easy to talk a big game—it’s a lot harder to handle a neutral dog in real time and actually show timing, control, and clarity.

No structure? That’s not ā€œgoing with the flowā€ā€”that’s guessing. Training should follow a clear progression, not random exercises thrown together each session.

Then there’s the over-reliance on tools. Tools aren’t magic. If your dog only listens when the tool is on, you haven’t trained the dog—you’ve created dependency.

And if they can’t clearly explain what they’re doing and why? That’s not advanced… that’s a lack of understanding.

The biggest one? Promising instant results. That’s how you get dogs that look ā€œfixedā€ for a week… then fall apart or come back worse.

Good training isn’t flashy. It’s structured, repeatable, and actually makes sense.

If you’re unsure whether what you’re doing is right—or why it’s not working—there is a reason.

I had my first 121 with the lovely Amy and Sprocket!

Settling is a big thing! Sprocket being a typical cocker is very vocal!

This is normal and many clients come to me worried about the judgement

The noise and whinning is ok! Its a part of the process! People will stare and that's okay too! This is not an easy habit to break

Sprocket would whine.. stop.. look at Amy.. be fed then would continue! So we have made a plan, and they have already started implementing what we discussed!

Very excited for these guys!

I had the most amazing time at the dog show I was invited to attend at The Vine Hannington hosted by the wonderful Amy Creature Comforts Pet Supplies

I did a little demo with Monty and Blue, spoke and met loads of dog owners!

Wonderful to see such a great success!

I have some beautiful photos taken by the wonderful aspiring photographer Peyton which I will be sharing on here shortly Peyton Vince

Blue last year when we started our journey would have really struggled in this environment! Lots of dogs and people! He settled beautifully, stayed focused on me, and was happy about it Maria Banting what an absolute transformation šŸ˜ beyond proud of you both!
