What is the quick? ❤️

The quick is an inner part of the nail that contains blood vessels and nerves. It grows with the nail. When the nail is cut at the tip the quick will retreat which allows you to cut the nail shorter over time with regular trimming.

Why is it good to get your dog’s nails clipped little and often? 🐾

If you leave the nail to grow for a long period of time the quick grows with the nail which restricts you from cutting the nail short without it bleeding. Regular nail trimming can help the quick recede slightly, making it easier to trim nails without cutting into it.

What happens if you cut too short?❤️

Accidents happen, sometimes a nail might be cut slightly too short and it can start to bleed. It can be very hard to avoid this if the nails are black (as you can’t see the quick) and if the nails are long. Trimmex will stop the bleeding quickly and the nail will continue to grow as normal. Most dogs are not bothered by this as it may only cause a slight pinch at most.

How often should you get your dog’s nails trimmed?🐾

Every dog is different as it depends on their genetics and life style. Bigger dogs will normally wear their nails down on pavements as their weight will put pressure on their nails on the hard surface. Other dogs may have more curly nails which need to be trimmed regularly to avoid them growing in the pad.

Hello everyone! My names Lauren. I have recently decided to start a mobile dog nail trimming business for areas local to Loughton. Having a dog myself and with over 3 years experience in a dog groomers I understand how important it is to trim your dog’s nails little and often. The quick grows with the nail which means it’s important to keep up with nail trimmings to avoid long curly nails.
