🎉 50 genuine ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google reviews!

It honestly means the world to reach this milestone.
Every single review has been written by a real client — no paid reviews — just heartfelt words from owners who’ve trusted me to help their dogs 💛

Next year marks 15 years since I started Heath’s Personal Dog Training, and I couldn’t be prouder of what HPDT has become. From early puppyhood and socialisation to life skills and recall, our focus has always been the same — happier dogs trained with empathy, kindness, and understanding.

At HPDT, we’ve always championed force-free, science-based training, proving that compassion and connection create the strongest results. To see fifty incredible five-star reviews from owners who share that belief is something special 🐾

Thank you to everyone who’s supported HPDT over the years — from Puppy School classes and one-to-one consultations, to our monthly social walks.
Here’s to continuing to help more dogs and owners build calm, confident relationships together ✨

🌙🐾 Evening adventures incoming!

As the nights draw in, visibility matters more than ever — especially if your dog’s got a flair for chasing squirrels into the sunset. 🐿️

After testing way too many gadgets, Bear and I narrowed it down to our top 3 essentials for night-time dog walking gear (I especially recommend the Orbiloc).

Plus, a few tips on helping nervous or reactive dogs feel safer after dark.

🐾 Puppy mouthing your hands?
You’re not alone — and your puppy isn’t being “naughty.” Mouthing is normal… but that doesn’t mean it’s fun for your fingers 😅

🎥 Watch to the end — I’ll walk you through the calm, kind steps that teach your puppy to stop without toys, shouting or “alpha” nonsense.

👉 Remember: most mouthing is about needs, not misbehaviour.
💤 Overtired
🎾 Overexcited
🦷 Teething
😬 Hungry or frustrated

Calm hands. Clear rules. No teeth on skin.

💬 Comment PUPPY BITING and I’ll send you my Ultimate Guide to Puppy Mouthing & Biting.

Ever been out walking and spotted a horse up ahead?
If so — here’s your friendly reminder to pop that lead on. 🐕✨

As both a rider and a dog trainer, I can tell you it makes a huge difference — not just for the rider, but for everyone involved. 👇

🐴 For the rider:
• It removes that instant panic of “Is this dog friendly?”
• Helps them (and their horse) stay calm and focused.
• Prevents a scary spook that could end in someone getting hurt.

🐶 For your dog:
• Keeps them safe from flying hooves — horses can kick hard!
• Teaches calmness and self-control around big animals.
• Gives you a brilliant training moment to practise recall.

👋 And for you:
• It shows courtesy and awareness of countryside etiquette.
• You avoid accidents and awkward confrontations.
• You feel good knowing you made a smart, safe call.

It literally takes two seconds to clip the lead on — but it can make all the difference. 💛

🎯 If your recall still needs some polish (especially around distractions), check out our Rapid Recall Online Course — simple, kind, and effective recall games that actually work.

🐾 Please share this post to help spread the message — the more owners who do this, the safer walks become for everyone, two legs and four. 🙌

With Diwali celebrations starting, fireworks might begin earlier than usual this week — so now’s the perfect time to help your dog feel calm and safe. 💛

A few small tweaks tonight can make a big difference:

✅ Calm walk before dark
🏡 Close curtains, pop on TV, radio or brown noise
🍽️ Early dinner — many dogs won’t eat once the bangs begin
🦴 Give them a chew or LickiMat and stay close by

You can’t stop the fireworks — but you can make your dog feel safe, supported, and understood. 🐶✨

💡 Bonus tip: In the full guide, I’ve shared calming tools that actually help — including an exclusive Pet Remedy discount for HPDT followers.

🎉🐾 Huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our October Social Walk at Hylands Park, Chelmsford! 🌳🐶

All the dogs got along brilliantly and had the best day ever — tails wagging, recalls on point, and not a single raindrop in sight (which feels like a small miracle for October! ☔😂).

It was such a great chance to practise recall around distractions — recalling and clipping leads on throughout the walk. Real-life training at its best. 👏

And in proud news… Bear actually made it back to the car with his ball. 🎾 No woodland treasure hunt required this time — definite progress! 🏆🐻

Can’t wait to see everyone for our November Social Walk — details will be announced first via our mailing list. 💌 We’ll pick somewhere with a track to save us from the mud… although, let’s be honest, the dogs probably wouldn’t mind either way! 🐾😄

Bringing home a new puppy when you already have a cat can be… a little wild. 😅
But with the right setup, it doesn’t have to be.

This isn’t about making them “best friends” overnight — it’s about building trust and safety first.

Here are a few key steps to get you started 👇

🐱 Give your cat a protected area they can control — food, litter, bed, and high hiding spots.
🐶 Start with scent swapping before they ever see each other.
🚪 Use baby gates or pens to create calm, safe introductions.
🍗 Reward your puppy for calm look-aways and disengaging from the cat.
🚫 Don’t ever force contact or let them “sort it out.”
🐕‍🦺 Short, supervised sessions build confidence on both sides.

The full force-free guide is now live on my website (see comments)— complete with everything you can do before your puppy even comes home to make life easier for your cat and safer for everyone.

If you’ve introduced a puppy and cat before, I’d love to hear how it went! Share your story or tips below 👇
