Doggo star of the week is one-year-old Poppy, who I've been taking for half-hour walks on the lead around the Huntley fields for a few weeks now, but who today came with me on her first hour-long group walk in the forest. Poppy walked off the lead for the full hour and absolutely loved the smells and sounds of the woodland. She never strayed too far, returned to my call and was very well behaved with the other dogs, not pouncing on them as she has sometimes before when on the lead. Well done Poppy, you were a pleasure on your first grown-up walk with me today!

Another wonderful doggo portrait has been left out for me, this time by talented Naomi, showing that it's not just the adult owners who have artistic skill. I love the detail in the ears Naomi, it really captures Manon's wavy hair and reminds me of Albert Durer's animal sketches. Well done Naomi, amazing sketch!

I know I said who can top that, but Rebel by Helen Gabriel has really raised the game. Obviously lacking the raw talent of Lucy's Basil, and iconic contrast of Sarah's Milo but not too shabby!

And here's my rendition of my retrievers Pixie and Tilly in the style of Picasso's famous dog sketch.

200 MILE CLUB!

Alfie and Rosie, my morning regulars have now chocked up an amazing 200 miles with me since the start of the year. Alfie in particular has really boosted his fitness and is enjoying being able to trot along with the other doggos now. Great work you two! Manon is fast approaching her first 100 miles too.

Doggo's Star of the Week goes to Tetley. Tetley is a lovely, friendly and very well-behaved young dog, but he does have a genetic proclivity for chasing birds, which at this time of year can be quite a distraction! But recently his recall has been really good, even when his feathered friends are taunting him from the woods and apart from one five-minute blip (after which he did come back to me completely exhausted) he's been returning to the whistle brilliantly. Well done Tetley, keep it up!

Wow, after Lucy Green's spectacular 'Basil at play' comes another masterpiece from Sarah Williams, with a hi-tech rendering of lovely Milo. One can only imagine the hours of artistic struggle that went into this stunning work.

"A daring composite piece combining photo-realism and bold digital brush-strokes" said some art critic.

Who else dares to top this with a portrait of their own doggo? Manon? Molly? Alfie and Rosie? Coral and Aris? Colin? Georgie and Harriet? Rebel and Ivan? Max and Lexi? Marley? Tetley? Twix? Come on owners, get your art on!

Thought I saw a boar in the woods off May Hill earlier but it was a log not a hog.

Embarrassing conversation with a man I met on a walk today, whose dog was sniffing around Tilly and Pixie...

Man with male black Labrador: "I'll just put him on the lead, or you'll end up with another one"

Me: "Don't worry, they've both been done"

Man (a bit shocked): "No, he wouldn't do that, I meant he might follow you home"

Me (making it worse): "Oh, sorry, I thought you meant he'd get them pregnant"

Awkward departure
