I visited the Souda Shelter Project while I was staying in Chania Town. It's a great place to visit if you are interested in adopting or want to see and learn about all of the animals they have rescued and are in their care❤️🥲
I am so happy shelters like this exist on the island of Crete. As a tourist it's reassuring to know if I come across an injured or suffering animal (which is very common here) I would have someone to call to help. I have been in places where this wasn't the case and I will never return unless I was specifically going for animal rescue.
The government does as little as possible to help the stray situation and improve animal welfare on the island. I wish the government would see the value these shelters have to tourism and stop working against them

Bansko Street Dog, Manchee! Despite her size she's still pretty young but I don't think she will grow too much bigger (a. She's the most loving girl and I guarantee she would make a loyal companion to anyone who would give her the attention she deserves
Her siblings Autumn and Billie are also available for adoption🥲🥰🏘️

This pupper still needs to find a home. He's a pretty calm puppy and very observant. I think he's going to grow up to be a very intelligent boy👍

***Released back to the streets but can still be available for adoption***
We took this sweet girl all the way from Pristina to a vet in Skopje only to learn that they are not able to operate on her leg. We aren't sure what happened to her but it was probably from a traffic injury. Although they can't fix her leg she has learned to walk on it and doesn't seem to be in any pain.
I would love for her to find a good home out of the shelter. She is a little scared of the other dogs but adores humans. If you would like to adopt or sponsor her teter test (so she can have a better chance at an EU/UK adoption) please let me know

This costs 200 euros and is taken 30 days after the rabies vaccine and then it takes 3 months for results.
USA adoptions don't have this requirement so the puppy can be ready to fly as soon as a flight volunteer is available.
