From a bundle of wool emerges a one of a kind personalised pet, whether it be a sculpture for your home, a gift or a memorial. I sell needle felted figures, mainly dogs. I got into needle felting through seeing an online video and thought I might give it a go! I particularly enjoy felting sighthound breeds, but I really love doing commissions of much loved pets and experimenting with more unusual

Needle felting is something artists have been doing for years, yet many of us had never heard of it. It all starts with a piece of carded, un-spun wool, that resembles candy floss, plus a felting needle to do the felting! The wool is poked and stabbed with the felting needle (a special type of shaped needle with barbs on the edge of it), which causes the wool fibres to interlock together and attach themselves to each other. This eventually has the effect of the wool firming up and creating a dense mass. Using this technique, you can literally create any 3D shape you like, with no need for any sewing or stitching!
