Easy two- ingredient feeding toy filler / cold snack. Just raw turkey mince & plain yogurt mixed up and then frozen in the food toy (these are the old Persil dispensers as my dogs aren’t very good with Kongs). I have a pdf about enrichment food toys - ask if you’d like it. This was more for cooling purposes than anything more. I get asked for snacks at about 1400 as well!
Use any plain yogurt or kefir (check for no additives) and any raw mince. I use whatever I have for me or whatever’s yellow label on the day.

When Uma wasn’t on lead all of the time, they both would have gone over to the logs to see if I would get them to stand on them, for treats. Now she’s so slow and on lead all of the time due to her eyesight, I often don’t want to detour. So Caylem goes up to things that used to be the fun stops, but has to do a recall instead. He would have been faster with Uma bombing at me, too. But it’s still good to practice, and get them doing things on walks.

Reminder of this cheap & easy enrichment activity. Useful when it’s too hot to walk.
If you have more than one dog, do set up separate segregated spaces. I sit between mine whilst they do this which may be enough for some dogs.

The thing is, this can really affect their behaviour outside when you are training and doing socialisation, as they are desperate for a wee! Frustration, inability to settle, whining- could be that a full bladder isn’t helping 😬

Use cafes & pubs for socialisation for puppies. You will probably want them to be able to go to them. And they’re brilliant for watching the world, learning to settle, learning to focus on you with distractions. If you can get puppy to settle, you may even be able to do some work!

Guinea Fowl leg (raw) for breakfast today for my 12 year old girl. Don’t believe that Dentastix & kibble are good for canine teeth- there is no actual evidence. Raw bones give the whole jaw and head a workout too. I bought raw carcasses from and cut them up with scissors. They have worked out cheaper per meal than any good quality dog food, I think.
Ask me for guidance on feeding a species appropriate diet if you are new to the idea.

One of the considerations for well-designed harnesses is how close they fit under the ‘armpit’. For comfort, and because if they fit tightly on dogs with long hair, matts form. This dog is one that I do pawdicures for- I cut his nails and trim his paw hair - because he has had back problems and the long nails shift posture , and long paw hair means slipping around on smooth surfaces. I do this type of thing for a few dogs that I already know well. This time I noticed some matts under his front legs, which I had to take off. I walked him home on of our harnesses, to test it out on him, and have made a recommendation! Matts pull on the skin and make dogs very uncomfortable, and can effect mobility and posture if really bad.
