Meet Buddy, the bouncy Parsons Jack Russell who came in recently for his second vaccination and a nail clip! 💉💅

Full of energy and curiosity, Buddy was more than happy to say hello to the other doggies in reception — making friends and wagging that tail non-stop! 🐶💬🐾

He even posed like a pro for the camera (with a little help from a tasty treat, of course 😄🍖). We absolutely love seeing our clients socialising and making each visit a positive experience.

Look who came to visit us today — lovely Esme the greyhound! 🐾💕

She was such a friendly girl, tail wagging the whole time and soaking up all the attention. Esme didn’t waste any time getting into the treats either — we even managed to snap this perfect pic of her mid lip-lick 😋

Say hello to Oscar the schnauzer! 🐶💉

This little character popped in to see our lovely nurses for his booster vaccine today — and he certainly made an impression! Just look at those ears 😍 One up, one down... he was more than happy to strike a pose for the camera 📸

Oscar’s also rocking his jingle bells — perfect for a pup who loves to explore, so his humans always know where he is (not that he’s ever far from the action!)

Bella was such a brave girl and handled everything like a true champ. She wagged her tail the whole way through and stole a few hearts while she was here! 💖🐶

🐶 Flossy 🐶

Flossy came in recently for her vaccine and was such a little superstar! 💉🐶 She was so calm and well-behaved the whole time — we couldn’t have asked for a better patient.

After she got her treat, she clearly decided her appointment was over 😂 She proudly took it in her mouth and made a beeline straight for the door like, “Thanks, I’m done here!” 🤣

It was such a sweet and funny moment — we all had a good laugh. We love seeing our furry friends' personalities shine through, and Flossy definitely made our day! 💕🐾

💼 Unique to Palmerston Vets – We Offer Direct Insurance Claims 🐾

Not all vet practices offer direct claims, but we do – to help make things a little easier during stressful times.

Here’s how our insurance claims work:

🔹 Direct Claims
– We claim directly from your insurer
– You pay your policy excess up front
– We charge a £25 direct claim fee whilst we await settlement
– We submit the claim, and the insurer pays us the remainder of your pet’s bill

🔹 Indirect Claims
– You pay the full bill at your appointment
– We can still submit the claim for you (optional)
– Your insurer then reimburses you, minus your excess

✅ Please check your policy – every insurer is different when it comes to what’s covered, excess amounts, and payment terms.

Did you know dogs have a paw preference – just like we have a dominant hand? ✋🐶

Some pups are right-pawed, some are left-pawed, and some use both equally!
You might notice it when they shake paws, step off the couch, or play with toys. 🎾🐕

🧠 Fun bonus: studies say right-pawed dogs may be more optimistic, while left-pawed ones might be a little more cautious!

🐾 Behind the Scenes at Buckhurst Hill 🐾

Lovely Ruby, one of our gorgeous senior clients (nearly 20 years old!), came in for a gentle grooming session today. At her age, keeping up with her coat can be tricky, so we focused on removing mats with soft brushes, cuddles, and some calming LickiMat treats 💕

We took it slow with plenty of breaks to keep her relaxed — and she’s now feeling much lighter and more comfortable!

If your pet suddenly starts limping, here are a few things to try before booking in...

👉 Keep them calm and rested – no running, jumping, or stairs for 24 hours

🚫 Keep cats indoors and limit movement

👣 Check paws for cuts, swelling, or anything stuck

❄️ Gently apply a cool (not frozen) compress to any swollen area

🍲 Sometimes 24 hours of rest, plus food and water, can make a big difference

❌ Don’t give human pain meds – they can be harmful (unless been advised by your vet)

📝 Note when the limp started and if it comes and goes

A big congratulations to Summer on her 1 year work anniversary with us here at Palmerston Vets! 🎉

Summer has been such a great addition to the Client Care Advisory Team and has learnt so much in the year she’s been with us – well done!💗

Summer says she’s really enjoyed interacting with clients and helping them along their client journey, creating a more relaxed and welcoming environment within reception. She’s also learnt a lot about the clinical roles and the importance of protocols, and why we have them in place for safety – something that’s been a real eye-opener for her.

Her favourite part of the job is engaging with clients, listening to their needs, and hearing the lovely (and sometimes very entertaining!) stories about their pets. 🐾

Summer also runs our Palmerston Vets page, keeping everyone updated and involved in what’s happening at the practice, as well as posting about your adorable fur babies being at our clinic. 📸🥰
