A strong team of 3 who have worked together for 7 years and have over 25 years experience between us.

💚 Let sleeping dogs lie - there's more to this than an idiom.

🐶 Dogs need around 16 - 18 hours of sleep / rest in every 24 hour period.

💚 Repeated days / weeks of less than this can make our dogs irritable leading to unwanted struggles and behaviours - including struggling to sleep and rest.

🐶 If you had 7 nights a week of 5 hours sleep, you'd probably start feeling irritable too.

💚 Rest is best.

💚 Let's have a bit of dogs on logs.

🐶 No one does it better than our parsons terriers, Indigo and Saffron.

💚 These girls joined us a year apart and have been great pals for over 4 years now - that's around 32 human years which is no mean feat!

🐶 Their lovely pet parents frequently get them together outside of their regular doses with Dogs at Heart and send us adorable pictures of them snoozing side by side.

💚 We were very pleased to welcome back Quintus, our one and only schnoodle, back from his holidays.

🐶 A small mishap with his paperwork meant an extended stay in France for a while...not that Quintus minded at all being un chien in familiar parts with his family.

💚 Quintus has been with us for over 10 years now.
At 12 years old, he still has a spring in his step and seemed happy to be back.

💚 Ever met your doppelgänger?

🐶 Recently our Freddie who is a fabulous Heinz 57 and came all the way from Cyprus met his uncanny resemblance.

💚 And then Winnie, our absolutely gorgeous Black Russian Terrier and a very rare breed indeed met her counterpart whilst strolling around Sydenham Wells Park and no-where near Russia at all!

🐶 No one was perturbed by these unexpected meetings, other than us humans who were beside ourselves of course, whilst our delectable hounds took it all their stride and got on swimmingly.

🐶 Freddie, Winnie, Clara & Bertie felt it was important to celebrate the completion of Brockwell Hall even if we're a few months late.

💚 It looks stunning and eventually our beautiful crew managed to pose nicely in appreciation.

🐶 Introducing our latest crew member to Dogs at Heart.

💚 This is Winnie. She's a beautiful Black Russian Terrier and we've fallen in love with her.

🐶 Winnie is 6 years old and probably our biggest recruit for some time.

💚 With her large size comes her enormous and gentle heart. She's an absolute gem.

🐶 Winnie connected with our fabulous walker Karen Williams, instantly. They couldn't take their eyes off each other and right there, a trust and friendship was born.

💚 Winnie is gradually meeting other crew members as she settles in to her new routine with us.

🐶 Give us a follow and keep up to date on how this one progresses. It's going to be warm and fuzzy I think.

💚 We recently welcomed two new recruits to Dogs at Heart.

🐶 This process is never rushed, first asking the lovely pet parents to complete our online forms.

💚 We ask for all sorts of details from breed, age, s*x to behaviours, likes, dislikes and everything in between.

🐶 A phone call between us and the pet parent then helps us build a good picture of their dog before we meet in person. Or should that be, in dog?

💚 Our complimentary Meet & Greet then allows walker and dog to encounter each other for the first time. This is our most crucial stage and I sometimes wonder who is more nervous, us or the pet parent. It's rarely the dog.

🐶 We have a short walk where the pet parent can join if their dog is unsure about going with a stranger, followed by a short car journey as a new vehicle can also be difficult for some dogs.

🐶 Only when everyone is completely happy, do we welcome your dog to Dogs at Heart.

💚 Our two newbies are very different dogs and you'll see more on them over the coming days. They are worth the wait.
