🖤 HELP US SAVE DINO THE HERON 🖤

As some of you may know, alongside being part of the admin team here at Fox Angels, I also run Wild Coast Colubrids Reptile & Wildlife Rescue in Cornwall.

Yesterday, we took in Dino, a beautiful grey heron who has suffered a devastating puncture injury to his eye.

Sadly, Dino now requires urgent surgery to remove the damaged eye, costing approximately £1,500, followed by rehabilitation.

Despite everything, this beautiful boy is still fighting, and we’re determined to give him the best possible chance.

We’re asking for a little help from our wonderful wildlife community. Even a donation of £1 or £2 could make a huge difference, and sharing his story means just as much.

Please help us give Dino his fighting chance. 🖤

Daisy rescue
CAUTION ‼️

WARNING THIS IS A VERY UPSETTING RESCUE WITH PHOTOS ATTACHED

I have debated whether to tell this story, as it is very upsetting for all involved, but felt Daisy's story needs to be told, and to highlight the emotional trauma experienced by our rescuers on a daily basis.

Daisy was a much loved visitor, her human guardians watched over her for a very long time.
Daisy was reported to have terrible injuries, how she was surviving like this no one knew.
Her front leg was broken and appeared to be hanging by a thread, she couldnt eat as she also had a broken jaw, she also had an injury to her back leg.
We couldnt let her suffer like this.
Zoe and her whole team were out for 14 hours every night for 10 nights desperately trying to trap her, she was in a large area.
She was eventually caught and rushed straight to to vet.
The outcome, although obvious to everyone was very very hard .
Daisy was sedated and helped to pass , no more pain .

Im sure you can imagine this has taken an emotional toll on the rescuers, the vet, who was amazing, and of course Daisy's human guardians who miss her terribly.
Please spare a thought for the heartache these wonderful rescuers, all over the country go through every day.
If you would like to donate towards her vet bill or towards fuel money for the team of rescuers who were out every night please mark your donation " Daisy"

Thank you for reading Daisy's story

WILLOW RESCUE

UPDATE
We're very sorry to let you know Willow didn't make it,
She was continuously seizing, the vet thinks a RTA was probably the cause.
Fly high Willow 🌈

Zoe Bailey and her team were alerted to this little vixen, reported as collapsed but also having seizures.
She was rushed to the vets and sedated for full examination, nothing immediate could be found so she has been given pain meds, fluids and anti seizure medication which will need to be administered throughout the night.
she will either improve or deteriorate but im sure you agree we must give her a chance.

We will keep you updated.
If you would like to donate towards her vet bill , every single £ really helps, we would be so grateful.

Thank you so much.

Keep strong Willow

CAUTION

WARNING DISTRESSING IMAGE ‼️

Savannah rescue

We were alerted today to a very serious incident..... a fox was reported to have been impaled on a metal fence at Tooting Broadway station, screaming in agony.
The finder was immediately contacted for the full details and this was put out to our rescuers .
This was a dire emergency, and realising this, our lady on the helpline immediately contacted the LFB for their assistance.
Our volunteers arrived but were informed that the LFB had attended, released the fox from the fence , and due to the severity decided to transport Savannah to the vet themselves for critical care whilst awaiting our volunteers , time was of the essence.
The LFB didn't hesitate, and took the fox to Stone Lion Vets who were absolutely fantastic, they administered critical care, warmth, pain relief and fluids in order for Savannah to be safely transfered by our rescuers to the nearest wildlife hospital to continue her care.

We are so grateful to the quick thinking of everyone involved , the finder, who stayed at the scene, our rescue volunteers, the quick thinking helpline volunteer and without doubt, a huge thank you to LFB for their quick action and compassion.

A real team effort 🦊

Rescue 14th October
" piglet"
This little girl ( named piglet because of her very short tail, due to an old injury which had healed up nicely) had been reported as having something stuck or hanging from her mouth.
Victoria and Zoe Bailey were called in to assist ..... easier said than done and took two weeks of staking out in order to trap her.
Defying all odds they succeeded but what on earth was this injury?
She was rushed straight to the night vet who ascertained it was actually a huge flap of her bottom jaw, open and bleeding.
First thing was to sedate her for a proper examination...... this little fox was one of the feistiest and dangerous foxes zoe has had the pleasure to meet, a completely wild, rural fox not your usual city , easier foxes. It took a lot, and I mean a lot to sedate her as the adrenaline had well and truly kicked in and boy was she angry.
It appeared that there were two big blood vessels still running through the wound so it would never have healed.
She was operated on, wound stitched, antibiotics, painkillers flea and mange treatment then left to sleep it off.
Due to her nature she is not a candidate for rehab but her wound will heal fine so she can be released when fully recovered and awake.
Thank you zoe and Victoria as usual and the vet was fantastic.

If you would like to contribute to her vet bill we would be so grateful. 🦊

Meet Earl ! This poor boy had the worst start to his little life. Another fox chewed his ears off as a cub and he wouldn’t stray from the garden he knew.
Unfortunately he was then attacked by a sadistic human and beaten until he was unconscious.
A wonderful person picked him up and took him to the closest vet where Anna worked hard on him until he regained consciousness and was recovering.
He was then handed to local rehabber, Chris.
Earl was feisty and growing up and one of our trustees was contacted to see what could be done to secure a good long term outcome.
In steps the wonderful Holly who has done an amazing job for us in the past, with a superb large enclosure and the perfect setting for a soft release , Holly took Earl home today.
He will be closely observed over the coming weeks, he’s been given clearance by vets that having no ears shouldn’t affect him detrimentally and if Holly feels he can be released and her vet agrees then he will have the loveliest environment to be released into and the wonderful Holly will support feed him.
Having seen Holly work her magic in the past we are hoping for the best outcome for this boy, freedom. Thank you to Paul, Chris and Anna for getting him this far.
We will keep you posted ! ❤️🦊

🦊🚒 Foxy Fire Brigade to the Rescue!🚒🦊

Fox Angels received a call about two foxes trapped behind a 3-metre-high wall fitted with deterrent spikes, inside a closed-off area. With no way out, the poor foxes needed urgent help.

Our dedicated Fox Angels volunteers, Lisa and Babs sprang into action to rescue the stranded pair. However, with the wall standing so high, additional assistance was needed, so the Kensington Fire Brigade was called to help.

The Blue Watch from Kensington Fire Brigade attended and worked alongside our volunteers to help contain the foxes and ensure their safe rescue.

Thankfully, the rescue was a success! Once safely freed, both foxes were released back to continue their adventures, hopefully a little wiser after their unexpected ordeal. 🦊❤️

A huge thank you to our wonderful Fox Angels volunteers and the Blue Watch at Kensington Fire Brigade for their teamwork, compassion and dedication to helping our urban wildlife.

Wishing our hardworking admin and trustee Jan Watkins a very happy birthday. Thank you for all you do ❤️🦊
