Dog-friendly shops Bhuna visited today on her 4th birthday.

1. Wickes (for bathroom tiles) in East Grinstead
2. Pets at Home (Bhuna needed a birthday toy)
3. Halfords (East Grinstead AND Crawley)
4. Hobbycraft in Crawley

I don't normally take dogs shopping but I had Bhuna with me and I checked each company's website for the dogs in shops policy and they were all very welcoming. She was on lead and under close control at all times as not everyone wants to see a boxer in shops!

Long lines - fantastic tools if you know how to use them!

5m is plenty long enough for teaching most dogs a reliable recall or giving freedom to dogs who can't go off lead.

Comment "line" if you want a link to the lines I use in classes.

I had some unusual breeds in classes this weekend - only one of these dogs is a cross of two breeds.
10 points if you can correctly identify the breeds.
1. Narli
2. Ralphie
3. Calippo
4. Freya and Emma

Good luck!!!

If you're looking to work on your dog's general training, recall, loose lead walking or specifically on keeping calmer around people and other dogs, Calm and Controlled is the course for you. Perfect as a follow-on from Puppy School or a starting place for new rescues, even dogs who have had lots of training can still benefit from this course.

Held outdoors at Palace Dog School, up to six dogs per group, this six week course provides structure and training in a supportive environment where extra space can be given to those who need it.

If you have any questions, pop them below or send me a DM.

Ripley Otter 31.12.15 - 12.05.26

We are heartbroken to announce that our darling baby girl has gone. She collapsed in front of me last night as I was making her dinner and died immediately.

Ripley had DCM and when diagnosed in December 2024 the vet said she will have a heart attack one day and that will be the end, there's no cure. She had heart medication to slow the rate since then but the day still came.

I'm completely shattered. She was my world and she was absolutely doted on from the day I collected her from Battersea Brands Hatch back in 2016 as an 11 month old who'd been through three homes already and multiple stints in kennels.

We no longer need the lock on the pantry door, to worry about leaving any food within reach or the extra locks on the baby gate to stop her getting upstairs to eat cat food.

Instagram only let me put 20 photos up and I have thousands of her, she was so beautiful and photogenic and had such a good life, I'm just devastated she's gone.

This handsome chap has just completed his 121 training package working on loose lead skills, general listening, positions at a distance, keeping calm around distractions and accepting handling. He and his owner were ace!

My dogs are used to good quality meaty treats, single protein pate, raw food, literally the best I can give them. But you know what they will often go mad for - bog standard dry dog treats 😆, gravy bones - delicious! In this case it's Winalot Shapes, and the LOVE them. The lower nutritional content the better in their eyes! It must be like us enjoying snacks, unhealthier is more appealing sometimes.
