We have exciting opportunities to join our team as a Surgery and Neurology Night RVN at the Royal Veterinary College, Queen Mother Hospital for Animals (near Potters Bar, Herts).

This position is ideal for an RVN keen to develop their nursing career and specialise in surgical and neurology nursing with hands on nursing of various surgical and neurological conditions.
Roles available:

• Fixed Term/Full-time, (35 hours per week), 12 shifts per month (08:00pm-08:30am) on a 4-week rolling pattern to include 1:4 weekends
• Permanent/Part-time, (23 hours per week), Thursday-Friday night shifts (08:00pm-08:30am)
• Fixed Term/Part-time (23 hours per week), Wednesday-Thursday night shifts (08:00pm-08:30am)

£37,424 - £44,324 pa, pro rata, inclusive of London Weighting and Night Nursing Allowance + a generous rewards package

🐎 The RVC has announced the expansion of its Equine Referral Hospital services to include a pioneering surgical procedure for horses with cervical spinal nerve compression. From 1st August 2025, the introduction of uniportal endoscopic foraminotomy will offer horse owners and referring veterinary surgeons a viable treatment option for this condition, where previously only limited options were available to prevent long-term suffering.

We have two exciting opportunities to work in our dedicated night nursing team in our Emergency and Critical Care team at the Royal Veterinary College, Queen Mother Hospital for Animals (near Potters Bar, Herts).
As part of our ECC team you will be working across our emergency room and intensive care unit alongside our friendly and experienced team of specialist clinicians, interns, RVNs and Patient Care Assistants. The ECC department accept both first opinion and referral cases 24 hours a day. This role would be perfect for those wishing to develop their career as an ECC nurse in a supportive environment.

Roles available:
• Permanent/Full-time, (35 hours per week), 12-night shifts per month (08:00pm-08:30am),
• Permanent/Part-time, (35 hours every other weekend), Friday-Sunday night shifts: 08:00pm-08:30am.

🏅 The RCVS - Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has announced that Dr Aarti Kathrani, Associate Professor of Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and Nutrition, and Dr Alejandro Suarez-Bonnet, Lecturer in Comparative Pathology, have been awarded an RCVS Fellowship in the Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice category. They both work at the RVC's Small Animal Referral Hospital. 🐕 New research from the RVC VetCompass Programme has provided fresh insights into survival rates for dogs diagnosed with haemangiosarcoma, one of the most aggressive cancers in companion animals.

Despite an association with extremely poor survival rates, this study reveals that outcomes can vary more widely than previously understood, particularly based on tumour location and treatment pathway.
