Thank you to the wonderful for inviting us to attend their press event today. Such wonderful ideas with 38 different gardens spread across an 8 acre site.

Founded by gardening legend Geoff Hamilton and continued by his son Nick Hamilton, the family have created some truly inspirational garden spaces. We challenge anyone to go and not come away with at least one idea for their own growing area. Fiona is determined to try and reproduce the low growing fruit hedge modelled on cordoned fruit trees and when we say low, we mean 2-3ft!

To say Fiona was in awe at the Ornamental Kitchen Garden is probably an understatement. Her very first gardening book was Geoff Hamiltons book on the creation, design and maintenance of this space and it's still on our book shelves to this day.

We'll be writing a detailed feature for The Country Smallholder in our regular column, but in the meantime, a journey to Rutland for anyone who aspires to start gardening or wants new ideas for an existing garden, is well worth the trip
