🧬🧬New Improved DNA Testing Available🧬🧬
The Chinese Red Dog is recognised in China through the CKU, but outside of China the breed is still in its early stages of structured development.
That means the decisions being made now will shape the long-term health, temperament and credibility of the breed for decades to come.
For emerging breeds, pedigree alone is not enough.
To build a strong and sustainable future, we need evidence.
We need to understand:
❔ how dogs are related
❔what genetic strengths exist
❔what health risks may be present
❔how to protect diversity within a small population
❔how to avoid repeating problems seen in other breeds
Without structure, valuable information is easily lost.
Without data, responsible progress becomes difficult.
This is why the Chinese Red Dog Registry is focused on linking verified lineage with DNA and health information, helping to create a clear and reliable picture of the breed as it develops outside of China.
We are working closely with Laboklin, who are developing advanced genetic tools that will help build meaningful insight specific to the Chinese Red Dog over time.
This is not about creating barriers.
It is about creating certainty.
When breeders, owners and enthusiasts work together to record accurate information, we create a shared resource that benefits everyone involved with the breed - now and in the future.
The Chinese Red Dog is not yet widely established in the West.
That presents both a responsibility and an opportunity.
By prioritising DNA and health testing early, we can help ensure the breed develops with:
• transparency
• credibility
• genetic strength
• informed breeding decisions
• long-term sustainability
Keep an eye on this page for further information about the specific DNA tests available for Chinese Red Dogs when they re-launch.
If you care about the future of the Chinese Red Dog, now is the time to stay informed, ask questions, and be part of shaping what comes next.
