Introducing you to another iconic dog portrait from my archive.

Beautiful Ruki would have turned 14 this weekend but it wasn't to be for us, as he sadly died over three years ago.

The obvious emotional attachment certainly contributes to it's iconic status, but coupled with the lighting, framing, location (one of his favourite parts of Hampstead Heath) and expression - it's iconic status is secured, and I will forever be grateful to have captured this moment for us to treasure.

Both my children, who are pretty grown up now, reminded me that it was his birthday on 6th March. I imagine this date will always be in their heads and our love for him will forever be in our hearts. Miss you Rukster! Xx

Seriously though, how do you choose the right photographer to capture your dog's portrait? What's important to you?

Is it photographic style? Will it be indoors or outside? What does your dog need to feel comfortable? What's the cost and what level of experience does the photographer have?

There are some photos in my archive, that to me, are 'iconic' and this is one of them.

Taken in 2020 whilst out with the Hackney Hounds pack, this was my first rodeo with a very excitable pack on a glorious summer day. Their energy was infectious and it was the beginning of my journey as a specialist dog photographer.

This portrait speaks to me of friendship, joy, summer and fun - all things that I love!

I'll be sharing a few more iconic shots in the next few months and I hope you enjoy them. X

So it's official.., January sucks. The good news is there's only 71 days and 30 minutes until the first day of Spring.

On the plus side this gives you plenty of time to plan ahead for your dog's photoshoot and book grooming appointment, practice everyone's commands, plan outfits and just get excited!

Love this type of 'lifestyle/documentary' approach to dog portraiture. Love the view point, love the little bridge, love the leading lines giving depth, love the black and white and love Pepper for being herself. Love my job 💕

I'm in the middle of a love affair with black and white photography... it changes everything and distills images to their very core.

Taken at Tewinbury Farm Hotel as part of a corporate dog shoot - this was one of my favourite dog portraits from the morning.
