Microchips genuinely do save lives! Vets are only obliged to give pain relief and, while some will go above and beyond and do all they can, is it really worth taking that gamble when it comes to your cats life? Tragically we have heard of many cases where cats have been rushed to a vets following a road accident, only to be euthanised later because no owner could be located. In some cases the cats in question had very treatable injuries, some just minor cuts and bruises. Many vets will go above and beyond what is required of them, but some will also not continue treatment beyond pain relief until an owner can be found. In the current climate where spare funds are non existent and rescues have gone beyond breaking point, risk of euthanasia is higher than ever. A simple scan of a registered and up to date microchip will pull up your details instantly so you can swiftly be by your cats side making sure they stand the best chance possible. It's heart breaking when we hear of such unnecessary and preventable death, and heart breaking speaking to owners afterwards who are full of upset, anger and regret. We're pushing for drivers to get cats to a vet, for vets and other bodies to scan them and contact us, yet for the whole process to work the best it possibly can do for the welfare of our cats is for us to play our part too. Don't wait for the law to come into force to make an appointment to microchip, it's simply not worth putting off.
