Maggie the Romanian rescue. - Avoiding problems don’t fix problems.

Today we had Maggie in for a 1-1 session with her owner Emma, who was a pleasure to work with and super passionate.

Maggie had reactivity towards dogs stemming from being attacked in the past.

We had a fantastic session. Maggie and Emma had seen a trainer prior and had made good progress however felt she needed more confidence and clarity in what she should be doing.

We got to work and made great progress.

Emma had gotten into the habit of avoiding possible triggers and this although feels like progress sometimes the reality is that avoiding issues doesn’t fix issues.

We have to change Maggie’s opinion of the trigger and put management and handler skills in place to ensure we give Maggie all the confidence and understanding she needs to be able to get over her fears.

Loved working with Maggie and Emma they sure make a great team!
