Here’s hoping other dog shows and dog meet ups etc are postponed.

Please remember that dog shows can be incredibly overwhelming and not all dogs can cope with them.

For the twin peaks fans out there…

According to Vets Now:

20 - 23 degrees Celsius has a 6/10 risk rating and that rigorous exercise in this heat could lead to heatstroke.

24-27 degrees celsius has a 8/10 risk rating and they advise that extreme caution must be taken.

The risk increases for senior dogs, puppies & flat faced dogs such as pugs, frenchies, bulldogs etc.

Is the dog show you’re taking them to really worth it?

Hi London I am bad at algorithms but good with dogs struggling with reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, social skills, lead walking, recall, puppy training... you name it.
Give me a shout East London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Islington etc. Dogs, puppies, dogs, pet dogs, is this right? I hate this sh*te.

Hi London I am bad at algorithms but good with dogs struggling with reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, social skills, lead walking, recall, puppy training... you name it.

Give me a shout East London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest,

I would never send my dog to board and train.

I'm sure there are board & train facilities that don't use horrific methods, but still, without the dog being in their home, with their guardians learning how to meet unmet needs or offer breed-specific interventions, progress will be limited.

A dog isn't an appliance that you can send away to get fixed.

There are also loads of reputable vets, rescue orgs, groomers etc and I value them all. Sadly there are still too many cases that I and other professionals experience where terrible advice has been given and the dog has suffered.

I also do not mean to shame anyone for behavioural euthanisia. In some cases where everything has been exhausted and the dog has no quality of life or is deemed too unsafe, I understand it completely. But behaviour euthanisia because some cowboy has abused a dog and pushed them way past their limit is a tragedy that can and must be avoided.
