So where does a neck rope actually fit in?
It's the question I get asked more than any other, and the honest answer is: not where most people think.
A neck rope isn't the step from bridled to bridleless. It's one stepping stone on a long path, and plenty of riders bring one in alongside the bridle for months before anything comes off at all. Some never go further than that β and that is a perfectly good place to be. π΄
Becki Ensell and JJ are three weeks into an online bridleless course, and what I love about her videos is that she shows the wobbly bits too, not just the good days. Worth a watch if you're anywhere near the start of this:
