𝙄𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙥..
I was in a pub the other week, eating my food and chatting (well, sort of) with my husband.
The waiter came over and pinched a chip off my plate. He got my resting bitch face look™️ which is normally enough to deter anyone from a second go.
But …. back he came for another go. This time I told him I didn’t appreciate being disturbed. He shrugged and walked off.
When he came back a third time, I felt my hackles rise and was ready for him. I covered my hand with my plate to give him a clear “back off” signal but still he chose to pinch another chip. I was raging, I mean I literally had my hands over my plate!
When I saw him approach for a fourth time, I could feel my blood boiling and this time I told him in no uncertain terms to get the f**k away from me and my food. STILL he didn’t listen.
Just as I was about to finish my meal, in he comes again. I got up and pushed him away, telling him if he came close again I would punch him. That actually seemed to do the trick, but it didn’t make me feel great.
He was just doing his job, he had been so lovely and polite up until I started eating. Next time I go there, I’ll know what I need to do if he even looks like trying to approach me when I’m eating.
Now…
Imagine how your dog feels when hands repeatedly go into his food bowl while he’s just trying to eat in peace.
1. He might seem ok with it the first few times
2. Then he might stiffen up as you approach
3. He could give you a side eye
4. He’ll hunch over his bowl
5. He’ll growl at you
6. He’ll snap at you
7. He’ll lunge at you
Just like I did in the pub, eventually he’ll run out of patience. Before you know it, you’ll have a dog who is growling and snarling when you approach him when he’s eating. A dog who has learned that asking you politely doesnt work, and knows that only a growl, snarl or snap gets you to stop.
Make you being around their bowl a pleasant positive thing, walk past and drop some tasty extras in.
Stop being that rude waiter to your dog.
