Supporting families through one of the hardest moments with love, compassion, and gentleness is at the heart of everything I do. I’m so grateful to Joanne for sharing her experience of saying goodbye to her beloved Wilf. 💜🐾

Some beautiful words recently shared 💛 Jago was such a gorgeous Collie 🤍 Thankyou to Erika for trusting me to help him 🙏💕

“ When that awful time came and Jago told me he’d had enough I knew I needed to repay his beautiful companionship with the kindest of goodbyes.
Cheryl was recommended by my vets and I am so glad I chose to contact her. His passing was managed perfectly, it was calm, relaxed and dignified. Cheryl was so very caring, to Jago and me, and I trusted her immediately. She then took him to The Suffolk pet and horse crematorium, whom I would also recommend to others. Although it’s been a few weeks since he left me I still have a little weep over him daily, but I feel happy knowing I couldn’t have given him a better farewell. Thank you Cheryl x ”

A few kind words shared after we said goodbye to a family’s beautiful golden girl, Amber. She was truly cherished, and her memory will shine on through those who loved her. 💛

"Cheryl was absolutely amazing when we made the very sad decision to let Amber go. It was the hardest of days, saying goodbye to our best friend of 15 years, but was made that much easier by Everypaws and their gentle, reassuring guidance. We were so grateful that they could come to our home where Amber was most comfortable and relaxed. Would highly recommend them for anyone facing the hardest decision of them all."

🌿 World Pet Memorial Day 🌿
Today is a day to honour the pets we’ve loved and lost — companions who shaped our lives and left pawprints on our hearts.

In my work offering gentle, in-home end-of-life care, I see every day how deeply our pets are part of our families. I’ve felt it too.

💫 Holly, my fiery chestnut mare, came into my life when I was 14. She taught me resilience, brought joy and adventure, and gave me unforgettable years. Losing her to mobility issues in her 20s was heartbreaking.

🐾 Vinnie, our bouncy, bubbly family spaniel, loved his runs, cuddles, and long walks. He became unwell with lymphoma and passed peacefully at home — the inspiration behind my service today.

🐱 Pickle, my little one-eyed angel, followed me everywhere. She was full of love and purrs. Though I couldn’t be there in her final moments, she was held by people who adored her.

Every loss is unique. The grief is real. And it lasts.

If you’re remembering a pet today — whether your loss was recent or many years ago — please feel free to share their story in the comments 💬

🕊️ If you're navigating this now — with an elderly or unwell pet — speak to your vet and those around you. And if you need support or guidance, I’m here for you.

🌈 How Will I Know It's Time to Say Goodbye? 🐾

One of the hardest decisions any pet parent will ever face is knowing when it’s time to say goodbye.

Lately, I’ve found many clients asking themselves this one question over and over — How do I know? How can I be sure? This is, of course, completely understandable.

There’s no perfect moment, no one-size-fits-all answer. But there are signs. It often comes down to one painful but loving question:

Is my pet still enjoying life, or just enduring it?

💔 Are they in pain that can’t be managed?

💤 Do they sleep more than they’re awake?

🥣 Are they eating or drinking less — or not at all?

🐾 Have they stopped doing the things they used to love — walks, cuddles, even wagging their tail or purring?

👀 Do they seem confused, anxious, or withdrawn?

These aren’t just symptoms — they’re messages. And as guardians, it's our job to listen with our hearts, not just our eyes.

💬 If you're unsure, please reach out to your usual vet. Many clinics offer quality of life consultations, and there are helpful tools and checklists to guide you through this emotional process. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Veterinarians often talk about “Quality of Life” — not just how long our pets live, but how well. If the bad days far outweigh the good, it may be a sign they’re ready to rest.

If you feel this post resonates with you and your current situation, reach out - talk to your vet, family and loved ones. Sometimes it can be those who see your pet less often - who really notice the bigger differences (We see our pets every day - so small changes can, of course, add up)

Please also feel free to reach out to me and my services, whilst I cannot offer quality of life assessments, I am happy to help discuss and guide owners in these difficult moments.

It’s never easy. It never will be. But letting them go with dignity, surrounded by love, can be the final, most selfless act we give them.

If you’re facing this choice, I see you. You're not alone. Take your time, ask questions, and trust that your love will guide you through.

🐾💞 Saying goodbye isn’t giving up — it’s letting go with grace.

Good morning everyone, just wanted to share something that could help the hardest part of being a pet parent - saying goodbye 🌈❤️

Me and my family said goodbye to our eldest boy Potts at the weekend. 14 years old, had the best life, but it was simply time.

We used a very lovely lady called Cheryl (everypaws gentle goodbyes) who was caring, kind and respectful for Potts' send off. We were able to all be around him, treats galore and helped him over rainbow bridge 🌈

It's never going to be an easy experience, but this was honestly the most positive goodbye we've had for all of our family pets. It can't always be planned, but in the case that it can be, I highly recommend Cheryl.

Hope this can help any one of our customers ❤️

🌈🧡 Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest moments any of us face. I always aim to provide a service that offer genuine care, compassion, and professionalism when it’s needed most. This heartfelt review speaks for itself and is shared kindly from beautiful Henry's owner:

“Sadly, my elderly cat Henry had to be put to sleep last week after a short illness. In the past, I have had no other choice but to take my cats to the vet and although they have always been thoughtful and kind, the whole procedure, from putting them in the basket, the journey, to being handled in the vet’s, has proved distressing for both the cat and myself.
The receptionist at the vets recommended Cheryl and from the moment I spoke to her I knew that Henry was in safe hands.
I cannot emphasise enough how kind, thoughtful and empathetic Cheryl is and how professional and skilled she is; her technique cannot be faulted. Henry was examined and due to his heart condition, put to sleep in an atmosphere of peace and love. Cheryl arrived quickly so that Henry did not suffer yet there was time for me, and my other cat, to sit quietly with him prior to her arrival , rather than arriving distressed at the vets.
Cheryl dealt with all the procedure so thoughtfully, offering a number of helpful options afterwards. She also kindly emailed the next day, which was most appreciated.
I cannot recommend Cheryl enough. I have already told friends and family, so that they can use her services if required.”

Run free beautiful Topsy 💕🕊🙏🌿

"It’s been two weeks since we said goodbye to our Topsy. We wanted to do the very best for her at the end, and a friend recommended Cheryl at Goodbye Paws. Cheryl was incredibly compassionate and empathetic — she took her time with Topsy and with us. She never rushed us, took time to talk, to learn about Topsy, and to listen to our memories. We’re so grateful. Highly recommended. Thank you, Cheryl."

🌈 Coping with the Loss of a Beloved Pet 🐾

Saying goodbye to a cherished pet is one of the most heart-wrenching experiences we can face. The grief can be profound, as pets are not just animals—they are family, confidants, and unwavering sources of love.

It's essential to acknowledge and honor this grief. As highlighted by the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, mourning a pet's loss is a valid and significant process, deserving of compassion and understanding.

Here are some gentle ways to navigate this difficult time:

Allow Yourself to Grieve: Understand that it's okay to feel a range of emotions. Grief has no set timeline.

Create a Memorial: Celebrate your pet's life by creating a photo album, planting a tree, or holding a small ceremony.

Seek Support: Connect with others who understand your loss. Organizations like the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement offer resources and support groups.

Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that bring you comfort and peace. Remember to be kind to yourself during this healing process.

For more in-depth guidance, the Best Friends Animal Society provides a comprehensive list of pet loss and grief resources, including support groups, books, and videos to help you cope.

Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Grieving the loss of a pet is a testament to the deep bond you shared. Honor that connection and give yourself the grace to heal.
