🔍 Vet Pricing Investigation 🔍

What's happening & how we're already ahead 🩺

You may have seen the recent headlines about the CMA (Competition & Markets Authority) looking into veterinary pricing and transparency across the UK 🇬🇧

The CMA wants all practices to be open about their ownership, prices, prescriptions and treatment costs. This is so pet owners can make informed choices and decisions for their pets 🐾

Here at Mortimer Vets, we're proud to say we're already doing this 🌟

✅We clearly display our prices in practice and on our website
✅We always provide estimates for procedures and tests in advance if the client would like them when asked
✅We already offer written prescriptions on request, and will be capping our prescription fee, in line with the CMA's guidance if this is decided
✅We're happy to support clients choosing where to get medications - and are always here to explain the pros and cons of different options
✅And MOST importantly - we're a proud independent practice, we aren't part of a corporate chain

Your pets care is our main priority here at Mortimer Vets, and our focus remains on honest and transparent care that puts your pets wellbeing first 💚

If you have any questions about the report or how it affects you, please don't hesitate to get in touch - we're here to help 👩🏼‍⚕️

Recognising signs early can help our fur family live happier healthier lives 🐾❤️

♥️ World Heart Day ♥️

Today is world heart day!

A healthy heart is so important for a healthy, happy pet. Often the signs of heart disease can start out very subtle, but learning the 'normal' for your pet is helpful to pick up on changes more quickly 🫀

Symptoms of heart disease in dogs include:
❣️Exercise intolerance/lethargy
❣️Non productive cough
❣️Excessive panting and increased respiratory rate at rest
❣️Generalised weight loss
❣️Collapse/fainting

Cats with heart disease can be harder to spot 🐱

Their symptoms include :
❣️Lethargy
❣️Increased respiratory rate
❣️Reduced appetite and weight loss

Some animals with heart disease will develop a murmur, which can be heard with a stethoscope, but in certain cardiac diseases this isn't the case and therefore noticing changes in your pet's overall health can be really important in picking up an issue 🩺

Although the majority of heart conditions are not curable, they can be very well managed with medication 💊

If you have any concerns or questions regarding heart health or general well being then please do not hesitate to get in touch 📞01568 601300📞

🤦🏻‍♀️I’m two weeks late posting this due to a crazy schedule, but still had to share 😃

🌟🐾 What a day at the Hereford & Worcester Animal Rescue Dog Show! 🐾🌟

Despite starting with a bit of rain, the sun came out and so did the wagging tails! 🌞🐶
I had a wonderful time meeting so many amazing dogs and their equally amazing pawrents.

A huge shout out to:
💛 Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue’s incredible Dawn & Corrine and their amazing team of volunteers for running the show so beautifully and for their constant love, dedication and passion to helping our gorgeous dogs 🥹
You are such an inspiration ❤️

💛 Brookfield vets Lauren & Lottie– your judging skills were truly impressive (how you chose winners out of all those adorable dogs, we’ll never know!).

💛 Ruth Punshion of Little Barn Hydrotherapy dulcet tones as the compere! you’re a star ⭐

💛 All the amazing pet parents for bringing their pups along to see me for muscle health checks and well-being tips.

I loved seeing the UK’s first Snufflebus for Dogs in action! 🚌🐾 Enrichment is such an important part of what I do every day with dogs—whether it’s through scent work or rehabilitation—so seeing the pups using their noses to sniff out treats on the bus was truly inspiring.

It was lovely catching up with Made with Love Ella who I have many enrichment snuffle mats and toys from🥰

I finally got to meet fellow therapist Beth, who was there promoting her fabulous secure dog field at Aconbury

Events like this remind us of the love and dedication behind every wagging tail. ❤️
