They say every home has a boss.
In our house — it’s the cat 🐾

He decides where I sit, when I sleep, and why the door must stay open right now.
His fur is part of the interior design, and his purring is the best stress relief after a long day.

A house without a cat is just walls.
But with a cat — it becomes a home ❤️

🦷 Why do pets develop tartar and how can it be treated?

Many dog and cat owners notice yellow or brown buildup on their pets’ teeth. This is not just a cosmetic issue — it’s tartar, and it can lead to serious health problems.

# # # ❗ Why does tartar form?
It starts with soft plaque (a mix of bacteria and food particles). If not removed, it hardens and turns into tartar.

Main causes:
• 🥩 Soft food (lack of hard food that helps clean teeth)
• 🪥 Poor oral hygiene
• 🧬 Genetic predisposition (especially in small dog breeds)
• 🐾 Age (risk increases over time)
• 🦷 Misaligned bite

# # # ⚠️ Why is it dangerous?
Tartar is not just about bad breath. It can cause:
• gum inflammation
• bleeding gums
• tooth loss
• infections that may even affect the heart and kidneys

# # # 🩺 How is it treated?
❌ Tartar cannot be removed at home!
✔️ Professional cleaning by a veterinarian is required (often under light anesthesia)

In some cases, vets may also prescribe:
• anti-inflammatory medication
• antibiotics (if infection is present)

# # # 🛡️ How to prevent it?
• 🪥 Brush your pet’s teeth with special pet toothpaste
• 🦴 Give dental chews or toys
• 🥕 Include some hard food in the diet
• 👩‍⚕️ Regular veterinary check-ups

💡 Tip: Start dental care from a young age — it greatly reduces problems in the future.

A scratching post isn’t just an accessory — it’s one of the most important things for a normal, happy life for an indoor cat. Here’s why it’s truly essential:
1. Claw care (claw hygiene)A cat’s claw consists of several layers. The outer layer periodically dies off and needs to be shed. If this doesn’t happen, the claw becomes layered, crooked, can grow into the pad, split, or even become inflamed. A scratching post allows the cat to naturally remove the old sheath and keep its claws healthy.
2. Stretching and physical activityWhen a cat stretches fully, digging its claws in and extending its body to full length, it stretches the muscles of the back, shoulders, chest, and front legs. This is especially important for apartment cats who don’t move around much. Without the ability to stretch properly, stiffness, back problems, and joint issues can develop.
3. Territory marking (crucial for psychological comfort)Cats have scent glands in the pads of their paws. When they scratch a surface, they leave both a visible mark and their individual scent. In this way, they signal:“This is mine, it’s safe here, I’m in charge.”If a cat isn’t allowed to properly “mark” its space, it becomes anxious and stressed. This often leads to compensation behaviors such as scratching furniture more aggressively, toileting outside the litter box, aggression, or excessive grooming.
4. Stress relief and emotional releaseScratching is one of the main ways cats release tension, excess energy, irritation after waking up, visitors arriving, conflicts with other animals, etc. Without a scratching post, this energy often gets redirected to the sofa, wallpaper, or carpet.
5. Preventing damage to household itemsIf a cat likes its scratching post (the right material, height, and location), it’s very likely to scratch there instead of on your new armchair or wooden door.
In short — without a good scratching post, a cat cannot properly:
• maintain its claws
• stretch its body
• mark its territory
• relieve stress
So not having a convenient scratching post is roughly equivalent to not letting a person shower, stretch after sleep, or vent when they’re really angry.
If you want your cat to be calm, healthy, and not destroy your furniture — a sturdy, tall scratching post (ideally from floor to the height of the cat when fully stretched) is a must-have, not an optional extra. 🐱

🐱 How to choose dry food for your cat — and why meat alone is not enough

I often hear: “My cat eats meat, so that’s all they need.”
Yes, cats are carnivores. Yes, meat is very important.
But meat alone is not a complete diet.

Here’s why 👇

🥩 Meat is great… but it’s not balanced

Raw or plain meat:
– doesn’t have the right calcium-to-phosphorus balance
– can be low in essential vitamins and minerals
– may lack enough taurine (which cats absolutely need for their heart and vision)
– can carry bacteria or parasites if not handled properly

Cats don’t just need protein — they need the right balance of nutrients.

🥣 Why dry food matters

A good quality dry food is carefully formulated to include:
✔ the correct vitamin and mineral balance
✔ added taurine
✔ balanced protein and fat levels
✔ nutrients that support teeth and overall health

When choosing dry food, look for:
– real meat listed as the first ingredient
– minimal fillers and grains
– options suitable for your cat’s age and lifestyle (kitten, adult, neutered, indoor, etc.)
– no artificial colors or unnecessary additives

💛 The best option? Mixed feeding.

In my opinion, a mixed diet works beautifully for most cats:

🐾 Raw meat — for natural protein
🐾 Wet food / pâté — for hydration
🐾 Dry food — as a balanced nutritional base

This way your cat gets variety, proper nutrients, and better overall support for their urinary and digestive health.

Feeding your cat isn’t just about filling a bowl — it’s about building long-term health ❤️

Every cat is different, so if you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to speak with your vet.

Healthy nutrition = a longer, happier life for your furry friend 🐾

ATTENTION, cat owners! Did you know that some of your favourite houseplants could be deadly for your furry friends? 😿
I only recently found out that lilies (yes, those pretty ones like Easter lilies or tiger lilies) are extremely poisonous to cats. Even a tiny nibble or just drinking the vase water can cause acute kidney failure within hours. Other common dangers include sago palm, philodendron, dieffenbachia, aloe vera, pothos (devil’s ivy), snake plant (Sansevieria), jade plant… the list goes on, and the effects can be serious.
Here are the main signs of plant poisoning to watch out for:
• lots of drooling or foaming at the mouth
• vomiting (sometimes with blood)
• diarrhoea
• lethargy or not eating
• swelling of the mouth or tongue
• tremors or seizures
If you spot any of these — especially after your cat has been near a plant — get to the vet straight away! With some plants (especially lilies), time really matters.
How to keep your home green AND cat-safe:
1. Always check a plant’s toxicity before buying (the ASPCA website or UK pet sites are brilliant for this).
2. Go for safe alternatives instead: spider plant, Boston fern, Christmas cactus, African violet, Calathea (prayer plant), orchids, bamboo palm, peperomia.
3. Hang plants up high or put them on shelves your cat can’t reach.
4. Grow some cat grass (wheatgrass or oat grass) — it’s safe and most cats love it.
Let’s be responsible pet parents, friends! 💚🐾
Drop a comment: which plants do you have at home, and have you checked if they’re cat-safe? Or tell us how your cheeky cat “helps” with the watering 😸
Keep your moggies safe!

🐾 Why Vaccinating Your Cat Is Not Optional — It’s Essential 💉

Our pets rely on us for everything — especially for protection.
Vaccinating your cat is a simple step that can literally save their life.

✅ 1. Protection from deadly diseases

Panleukopenia, calicivirus, herpesvirus, and rabies can cause severe illness or even be fatal. Vaccines build strong immunity and keep your cat safe.

✅ 2. Indoor cats need vaccines too

Even if your cat never goes outside, viruses can enter your home on shoes, clothes, or visitors. Staying indoors doesn’t guarantee safety — but vaccination does.

✅ 3. Vaccination is far cheaper than treatment

Treating viral infections is often long, expensive, and not always effective. Prevention is always the smarter choice.

✅ 4. A longer, healthier life

Vaccinated cats get sick less often, recover faster, and enjoy more healthy years with you.
It’s an investment in their future — and in your peace of mind. ❤️

✅ 5. Safety for your home and community

Many clinics, pet hotels, and grooming services require up-to-date vaccines. Vaccination protects not only your cat, but also other animals and people.

💉 Give your cat the protection they deserve — vaccinate them on time.
It takes only minutes, and the benefits last for years.

A Mother Cat and Her Kittens: Why Being Together Matters So Much
When tiny kittens are born, their whole world is their mother. Her warmth, her heartbeat, her scent — that’s all they know at first. She is their comfort, their safety, and their love. That’s why it’s so important to let a mother cat stay close to her babies for as long as they need her. 🌸 From the very first moments, newborn kittens are completely helpless. They can’t see, hear, or keep themselves warm. Their mother licks them clean, keeps them cozy against her body, and feeds them with milk full of everything they need to grow strong and healthy. Her presence is the best medicine and the safest shelter. 🐾 Around three to four weeks old, kittens begin to explore the world. This is when their mom starts teaching them — how to use the litter box, how to play gently, how to groom themselves. She guides them patiently and lovingly, just as any devoted mother would. 🍽 As the kittens grow, their mother introduces them to solid food, showing them how to approach the bowl and taste new things. With her by their side, this big step feels safe and natural — never scary or stressful. 💞 A mother cat doesn’t just care for her kittens — she teaches them how to love, to trust, and to be kind. Thanks to her, they grow up balanced, gentle, and open to people. If taken away too early, kittens can become anxious, fearful, or overly wild. 🕊 The best age to separate kittens from their mother is around 10–12 weeks. By that time, they can eat on their own, use the litter box confidently, and are emotionally ready to explore the world. Yet, they’ll always carry in their hearts the warmth and tenderness she gave them. 🌷 A mother cat is so much more than a caregiver. She is the heart that beats beside her kittens’, the gentle guide who teaches them how to live. Let’s give her the time to share all the love, warmth, and wisdom that only a mother can give. ❤️
