It’s been a week since we emptied the shop & are trying to establish a new normal.
We’re doing our best juggling updating the website to get some of your faves on their, whilst planning & prepping for an event & dealing with a family members health issues. If there’s something you used to buy in the shop but you can’t find it on our website DM us or WhatsApp us with your requirements
Something that’s been rumbling in the background which is a constant source of frustration for us all is stock issues. I just wanted to share some of the difficulties we encounter & possible reasons why.
Many of our suppliers are experiencing a variety of issues since Mr Trump decided to cause some trouble. Just a few of the problems include:
🐾 stock stuck overseas & unable to travel to the uk
🐾 customs rejecting orders as shipping containers have been packed incorrectly
🐾 competitors buying up stock & creating a monopoly or pushing costs higher
🐾 more competitors both at wholesale & retail level meaning some items are in very short supply or not available at all
As an independent retailer we strive to work with ethical companies with strict quality control. It’s important to us to show loyalty, to support these businesses, building relationships with them, ensuring that we grow together.
We hope by sharing some of the BTS frustrations you’ll be empathetic if we have to show a product is long term out of stock.
For instance; stuffed rabbit ears are very popular. This was the consignment that was packed in the wrong shipping container. There is nothing wrong with the stock or its quality but this error means customers have returned it to the manufacturer & now the ears won’t be available for another 3 months.
Luckily for you we will have what’s left of our stock with us tomorrow at Meanwood Park Festival - so don’t sleep on it !
