Have you ever just sat and watched the world go by with your dog?

It’s a great skill for our dogs to learn—and good for us too.

Learning to settle and just be helps our dogs feel calm and confident in the world around them. And it gives us a moment to slow down and breathe, together.

A little story about ball throwing…

One of my lovely clients told me she usually chucks the ball a bit (a lot) before I arrive to “tire her dog out.” This time, she didn’t get chance—and the dog was actually so much calmer on our walk. 😅

It’s a common idea—that a tired dog is a well-behaved dog. But constant ball throwing doesn’t really calm dogs down. It ramps up adrenaline and cortisol, which can leave them wired, not relaxed.

If your dog loves the ball, try using it for sniffy games instead—hide it, and let them search for it. Just as fun and way better for their brain and body. 💛

Charley says

There's no need for walks today. It's too hot 🔥 🥵

If you don't like to p*e in your garden, then make it a very quick one, then back home to a nice cool treat or being a puddle in the shade.
Ooo, and avoid the pavements too so they don't burn your paw pads.

Lots of licks,
Charley

Tick season is here — and they’re not just a nuisance! 🐾🪲

Just a friendly reminder to check your dogs (and yourself!) for ticks after walks, especially if you’ve been in long grass, woodland, or moorland.

Ticks can carry diseases like Lyme disease, which can affect both dogs and humans — so catching them early is important.

🧼 After every walk, give your dog a once-over, especially around:

Ears

Neck

Armpits

Groin

Between the toes

If you find a tick, use a proper tick remover and twist gently — don’t pull straight out. And if you’re unsure, your vet can help.

The one I found today was so hungry it made a run for my thumb after I pulled it off! 😳🫣 Not today, pal.

If you're not using tick prevention yet, it’s a good time to have a chat with your vet.

Let’s keep our pups happy, healthy, and tick-free this summer! 🐶🌿

A big thank you to Nathan at !

I've officially graduated and feel so much more confident in how I run my business (it still feels weird to say I own a business—surely that's what grown-ups do? 😆).

Nathan has shared loads of tips, tricks, and handy tools of the trade to help make things smoother and more manageable.

If you're struggling to get your pet business off the ground—or feeling swamped (like I was) with your current one—I really recommend reaching out to Nathan.

I'm so glad I did.

This little lady has quite a lot to say for herself, especially in the garden. So, in today's training session, we have discussed management, increasing sleep, and a little training to teach her that being quiet can be more rewarding than shouting and waking the baby.
