Let’s talk about ✨Recall✨

Recall is the most important thing you can teach your dog for safety and peace of mind on walks.
How we do it is simple: we make coming back part of the fun!

It’s super easy to fall into the habit of only calling your dog back when it’s time to go on the lead or to go home. This, over time, can teach our dogs that recall means the fun is over!

Instead, encourage your dog to come back to you throughout the walk, reward them however they most like to be rewarded (whether that be praise, playing with them, or a tasty treat), then release them to play and explore again!

By being part of the fun, we can ensure our dogs come back to us because they WANT to.

🐾 Tall Tails Top Tip: On our walks, we find that butt scratches work best as a reward! Our dogs even race back now to be the first to get them! 🐾

Hi everyone, I’m Holly, the face behind Tall Tails, and I thought it was about time I introduced myself 👋

If you told me a few years ago that I’d end up a full time pet care provider, I’d have never believed you!

I was studying in London to become an actor, with a future lined up for myself 🎬

After graduating into the pandemic, I navigated countless jobs alongside auditions to make ends meet in London (yes, even a brief spell as a Princess for kids' parties! 👑) But through it all, nothing truly felt fulfilling. Big city life simply wasn't sustainable for my long-term happiness, prompting the tough decision to leave London and return to Scotland.

Feeling lost, not sure which direction to go next, I joined my mum on one of her dog walks. Growing up, joining my mum on her walks was always the best form of therapy. She asked me simply “well when do you feel at your happiest?”

I found my answer right there, in that simple moment.

And ever since, whether it's the excited welcomes on pickups or the crazy zooms through muddy puddles, I'm deeply thankful that this is where my happiest life is found ❤️

In almost all our first meetings, we get asked a variation of this question!

At Tall Tails, we have worked with many dogs over the years of all shapes, sizes and personalities. The common thread between all the dogs we’ve worked with? They thrive on connections with other dogs ❤️

Dogs need exercise regardless of breed, size or age, but on top of that, they need a chance to explore, smell, run around, and create friendships with other dogs. Just like us, every dog has their own vibe. Some love to run and play, while others prefer a steady pace and chance to explore on their own time 🐾

There is nothing quite as special as watching relationships grow between dogs, and we take time to carefully match our groups based on temperament, energy levels, size and play style to ensure every dog has the best time possible.
