🥵 We survived the heatwave!! 🥵

And honestly… we are VERY happy that the cooler weather is finally making its comeback 🌥️🐾

It’s been a stressful week keeping the tribe cool, safe, and comfortable — but we made it through!

Here’s how the Prestige team spent the week surviving the heat:

🐶 Cooling collars and cooling mats
😍 THE cutest sun hats
🥕 Carrot bobbing (always in the shade!)
☀️ Solo outside time so nobody got too giddy or overdid it
🍓 Frozen fruit & licky mats
💦 Playtime with the hose and bubbles!!
🌅 5am walks before the heat kicked in

The biggest focus this week? Getting that energy out early before temperatures started climbing (anything below 20° felt like a win 😅), keeping outside time shorter during warmer periods, and plenty of frozen goodies 🍦🐕

A huge well done to all the dog owners who’ve been navigating the heat too — now bring on those cooler temperatures 🙌🐾

⚠️ Temperatures are reaching 31°C today. Please keep your dogs inside and cool.⚠️

Do NOT walk them in this heat. Hot pavements burn paws, and heatstroke can kill far quicker than people realise. Missing one walk will not harm your dog — heatstroke can and will.

Cooling mats, cooling collars, and cooling coats can absolutely help keep your dog comfortable when used correctly, but they are NOT an excuse to take them out walking in extreme temperatures.

Make sure they have:
💧 Constant access to fresh water
❄️ Cool, shaded spaces indoors
🧊 Cooling aids such as mats, fans, damp towels, collars, or coats

If your dog needs the toilet, keep it brief and avoid prolonged time outside.

Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, weakness, and collapse. If you notice these signs, contact your vet immediately.

Please make sensible choices and put your dog’s safety first today

🐾 Flea & Tick Season 🐾

As the weather warms up, fleas and ticks are becoming more active. I’ll always be vigilant when out with your dogs, but please make sure they’re up to date with flea and tick prevention treatments too.

It’s also important to regularly check your dog after walks — especially ears, paws, neck, and underbelly — and remove any ticks promptly if found.

As the warmer weather rolls in ☀️ it’s tempting to bring your dog along for every walk and beer garden visit…but the heat can be dangerous for them.

Hot pavements, high temperatures, and little shade can quickly lead to burnt paws or overheating.

They’re part of the family, and as much as we want them with us, sometimes the safest place for them is at home 🐾

Stick to early morning or evening walks and always keep them cool and hydrated 😎

When in doubt—leave them out (of the heat) 🔥
