☀️🐾 HEATWAVE UPDATE 🐾☀️

With temperatures forecast to reach the high 20s and potentially early 30s, we wanted to give everyone a quick update about daycare over the coming days.

Depending on the temperatures, we may need to alter our usual daycare hours to allow us to make the most of the cooler mornings for walks and outdoor time. If temperatures become too high, there is also a possibility that we may need to close daycare for the safety and welfare of the dogs in our care.

Although we are very lucky to have air conditioning, shaded areas and plenty of cooling aids, Sunnyside K9 Academy has always prided itself on being a mainly outdoor daycare centre. Our dogs come to us to explore, play, socialise and enjoy their day — and when temperatures become extremely hot, we don’t feel it’s in their best interests to keep them inside in the cool for the majority of the day simply so that we can remain open.

Closing or reducing our hours is never a decision we take lightly. Daycare is our main source of income, so making the decision to close is incredibly difficult, but the welfare of the dogs will always come first. ❤️

We will be keeping a very close eye on the forecast and making decisions based on the temperatures and conditions each day.

We will contact owners directly with any changes to hours or closures and to discuss arrangements.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding and for trusting us with your dogs. We absolutely love having them here and just want to make sure we’re always doing what is best and safest for them. 🐶☀️🐾

Due to the amazing demand for our Doggy Daycare, we’re delighted to announce that we’ll now be open on a Thursdays from 3rd September 🎉
Our lovely Josie, who’s been running day care on a Friday and regularly walks with the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday groups is adding an extra day! Meaning we will be open 5 days a week💕

Our doggy daycare is designed to give your dog a fun, safe and enriching day while you’re away.
Each day includes:
🐾 A morning walk
🐾plenty of play time with their furry friends
🐾 secure outdoor space to run, explore and play
🐾A cosy inside area for rest and relaxation
🐾 Lots of cuddles
🐾 Quiet downtime to recharge between all the fun

We pride ourselves on creating a home from home environment where every dog feels happy, safe and loved.

Well the sun has finally decided to put his hat on! I just thought I’d do a quick post for all the doggos that weren’t with us last summer☀️

How do we keep your dog cool at Sunnyside K9 Academy?

🐶 ❄️ Cool indoor areas with air conditioning so dogs can relax away from the heat
💦 🌊 A large paddling pool for supervised splashing and cooling off
🌳 ☂️ Plenty of shady areas outdoors where dogs can rest and stay out of direct sunlight
☀️The outdoor flooring used in the day care unit is made to not get too warm so the outdoor area stays nice and cool
🚶‍♂️ 🐾 No walks when it’s too hot — if we feel the weather is unsafe for a walk, we won’t take that risk. Instead, we provide safe enrichment, play, cuddles, and cooling activities at the daycare.

Every dog is different, and we keep a close eye on their behaviour, energy levels, and comfort throughout the day. And in extreme heat we may make the decision to close but you will be notified ahead of time💕

Because summer fun should be safe, cool, and full of wagging tails 🐕❤️
