Last week I hosted my first reactive and nervous dog-friendly scentwork taster session, and it was such a special evening.

One of my biggest goals was to create a space where every dog could learn in a way that felt safe, supportive and adapted to their individual needs. For dogs who find the world a little overwhelming, having the time, space and freedom to work without pressure can make all the difference.

Each dog worked their little socks off, and it was a joy to watch their confidence grow as they discovered the fun of searching. Seeing tails wagging, noses working, and dogs becoming more engaged with the task in front of them was a lovely reminder of just how powerful scentwork can be.

Scentwork taps into a dog's natural instincts, providing enriching mental stimulation while building confidence, focus and connection with their handler. It's an activity that so many dogs can enjoy, regardless of age, breed or training background.

If you've been curious about scentwork but have wondered whether it's the right fit for your dog, especially if they're nervous, reactive or easily overwhelmed, I'd love to chat.

I'll be running another taster session in June and July.

Drop me a message if you'd like more information or have any questions 🐾

I have loved watching these pups and their humans grow in their confidence and abilities as they've gone from no scentwork experience to excited to work for finds.

A self indulgent post to wish my little lion 🦁 a happy 4th birthday 🎈

This fur ball is where Snout and About started, from the want to understand what goes off in his brain so I could connect with him and his world better, which has lead to an obsession with scentwork and working with prey drive.

I created Snout and About as a space for people who want to connect with their dogs on a deeper level, to co-exist rather than command and control. Relationships built on trust, love and safety.

So a big thank you to Roger for being the inspiration that set me on this path ❤️
