🌿 Spring is on its way – let’s talk worming! 🐎

As the seasons change, it’s the perfect time to review your horse’s worming plan and make sure you’re following the best practice for targeted deworming. With worm resistance on the rise, it’s more important than ever to worm smarter, not harder.

🔬 How can you help prevent resistance?
✅ Test first! Use regular worm egg counts and tapeworm tests to check if your horse actually needs worming.
✅ Weigh accurately – Always dose based on your horse’s correct weight to avoid under- or overdosing.
✅ Follow a vet-advised plan – Worming routines should be tailored to your yard, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
✅ Poo pick regularly – Removing droppings from grazing areas helps break the worm lifecycle.

🚨 Blanket worming multiple times a year is outdated and can speed up resistance. Let’s work together to protect the effectiveness of wormers for the future!

🐴 Welcome Horace to Pinkmead Farm 🐴

Just look at this handsome chap! 🥰 Horace has found his forever home at BHS Approved Centre, Pinkmead Farm Equestrian Centre, thanks to the Second Chance Project.

Since launching in 2018, the Second Chance Project has helped rehome 95 horses and ponies through the RSPCA and BHS Approved Centres, giving them a fresh start and a loving environment to thrive in. Horace is the latest lucky one to embark on his exciting new journey!

Wishing Horace and his new team at Pinkmead all the best for the future! 💙🐴

On 23rd February 2025, there will be a trail running event passing through the Meon Valley. Runners will set off from Queen Elizabeth Country Park, tackling the climb up Butser Hill before heading out along the South Downs National Park trails.

CPD points up for grabs at this clinic at The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy, presented by Liz VanRoss.

Liz VanRoss, the founder of AlignmentHORSE, has studied the anatomy, physiology, and psychology of horses and human beings for over 30 years. She is a qualified equine sports massage therapist (trained in the US by Jack Meagher and qualified in the UK with Mary Bromiley M.B.E), a qualified human massage therapist and a certified Masterson Method Practitioner. She was Yard General Manager of the renowned Liphook Equine hospital, one of the largest independent equine hospitals in the UK, as the specialist responsible for rehabilitative training, expanding her own understanding of equine locomotion and biomechanics. She has travelled the world collaborating with other equine and behavioural specialists. After moving to Normandy, France, Liz VanRoss established her AlignmentHORSE practice and works with horses and riders of all levels and disciplines to find a more functional, comfortable and ultimately athletically healthy state.

🚨 2024 Dead Slow Road Incident Statistics for the South 🚨

Horse riders in the South reported 332 incidents on the roads this year. Heartbreakingly, 27 horses lost their lives.

🔹 Area with the most incidents: Hampshire – 187 reports
🔹 Area with the most horse fatalities: Hampshire – 26 fatalities

Every time you pass a horse, think of the lives at stake.
🛑 Slow down to 10mph.
↔️ Give at least 2 metres of space.

Last year’s competition was such a blast that we’re back with TWO dates for 2025! Whether you’re a seasoned games rider or just fancy a laugh with friends, this is the perfect chance to get involved.
