No Pain? Check Again
The early signs of dental problems are very subtle, and our horses will often not show any obvious signs that anything is wrong. When horses eventually show signs of dental discomfort, the problem may have been developing for quite some time.

Play your part to keep any horse you encounter safe
#BeHorseAware – Help keep our horses safe 🤝
While it is usually well meant, feeding horses can have horrifying consequences. Play your part to keep any horse you meet safe by:
🌱 Not feeding them any type of food, grass cuttings or plants. These can make horses extremely ill or even kill them.
🐕 Keep your dog on a lead and bag and bin dog mess
📏 Give horses lots of space and avoid coming between mothers and their young
🔒 Leave gates and property as you find them
🗑️ Always take your litter home
🗣️ If you see a horse in distress alert the nearest farm/yard or check for a sign with the owner’s details on
⛔ Keep to the right of way

Here are some top tips to keep those feet healthy:
✅Pick feet out every day at least once with a hoof pick
✅Check feet daily for splits or cracks
✅If shod - check shoes for wear and tear and identify raised clenches
✅Make sure horses have a dry area to stand in for parts of the day
✅Maintain regular visits from a registered farrier
✅Apply a topical hoof dressing year round

⛔ Be Horse Aware - help keep our horses safe by not feeding them ⛔
⛔ Be Horse Aware - help keep our horses safe by not feeding them ⛔
Although often motivated by kindness, feeding horses you encounter when out and about can result in horrifying unintended consequences.
Jonathan Ruiz from Oakham Veterinary Hospital Equine talks through some of the experiences they have dealt with, which have seen horses being made extremely ill, and sadly in some cases, having died as a result of being fed by passers-by.
🤝 Help us to prevent these incidents occurring and keep all horses safe by not feeding them.
