Freckleton Royal Affair 👑
16.2hh, 10-year-old Warmblood gelding

Ronnie, as he’s known at home, is looking for a long-term loan home. He has just spent a lovely summer on a short-term summer loan with a friend, enjoying countryside hacks and beach rides, now he’s ready for his next chapter.

Ronnie was previously entire, but he now happily turns out with geldings, c**ts, and mares, showing no interest. He is beautifully schooled and has been successfully shown inhand across the country, and has competed in dressage with a professional. He thrives in a varied routine, with a mix of flatwork and hacking. Due to a previous injury (which I’m happy to discuss), he isn’t suited for jumping, aside from occasional low-level farm rides.

Ronnie is a true gentleman on the ground. He’s bright, sensitive, and an absolute joy to have in the stable. He does need a confident rider as he has a sharp/ switched on mind, especially when hacking alone.

By Balmoral Mandarin out of Balmoral Mayfly, Major is one of the few entire stallions from this extraordinary line, carrying on a legacy that is rare and exceptional.

Major has been lightly shown both inhand and ridden with limited appearances due to my pregnancy and then commitments with a young child. At home, he is a dream to ride, enjoyed by all the family, from myself to my mum, even after several years out of the saddle. He is well established in the arena, hacks out alone or with company, and enjoys popping a jump.

He has sired fabulous stock, and has covered mares naturally inhand as well as ran with mares. He is also trained to the dummy for AI collection.

Major is a pleasure to have around. I cannot speak highly enough of his wonderful nature. He will turnout with young c**ts and geldings, and this summer has lived out with a few younger c**ts. He is a joy in the stable, a real kind and soft hearted stallion.

He is only offered as we are no longer continuing to breed or keep Highlands due to the sale of our yard.

It was also lovely to catch up with friends old and new throughout the week, especially Meredith Finch, who had travelled over from Canada. We were delighted to show her around the Willowsway herd before heading down to TOYS.

A huge thank you to Hannah and Charles for all their help throughout the week and, as always, for making it such an enjoyable few days.

A special thank you also to our fantastic freelance team back at home. Your hard work in the lead up to the show, helping us get everything prepared before we left, and keeping everything running smoothly while we were away is hugely appreciated. We simply couldn’t do it without you.

✨ A little update on our very special boy, Freckelton Royal Affair ❤️

I realised Ronnie hasn’t had a mention on here for quite some time, and I thought he deserved one.

Last year, when his son “Willowsway Top Of The Rock” fully took over stud duties at Willowsway, Ronnie was gelded and retired from breeding. After leaving us an incredible legacy, it’s now his time to simply enjoy life.

He is absolutely thriving in the most wonderful loan home with Caitlin (who worked here for many years and knows him inside out). Watching him enjoy beach rides, long hacks and carefree gallops across open fields is everything we could have wished for. Seeing him so happy and so loved means the world to us. 🥰🥹

Ronnie’s legacy continues to grow. His offspring are qualifying for HOYS and RI, winning in the show ring, eventing, jumping and breeding exceptional youngsters of their own. He now has grandchildren making their mark, a son standing in Ireland, and stock competing across Europe. We couldn’t be prouder of everything he has achieved.

He truly is the horse that laid the foundations for our plaited breeding programme, and we’ll always be grateful for everything he’s given us. ❤️
