Swipe right for Manu quite literally asking who the crazy dog obsessed lady is 🤣.

is supporting Manu’s lovely caregiver with training and behavioural advice. I got to meet him for a pain clinic to see if any of his behaviours could be rooted in discomfort/pain.

We know >80% of behavioural issues are caused by pain, so should ideally be ruled out! Most dogs will mask low grade chronic pain, especially at scary vet visits so my pain clinic is relaxed and in the dog’s eyes not clinical to counterbalance that.

I’d obsessively watch your documentaries and dream of a life dedicated to animals and here I am, living my dream, looking after the animals in my world, as a Vet.

Thankyou for inspiring generations and caring about this beautiful planet.

At the end of April I held a CPD event at for my paraprofessional colleagues over in Blackburn, Lancashire.

I’m really passionate about working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to give the best care to our pets.

Owners, family and friends, dog walkers, dog groomers, pet sitters, Vets, Vet nurses, hydrotherapists, physios, myotherapists etc etc. there are a host of people who together can improve a pet’s happiness, comfort and mobility.

I came away completely inspired to hear how many therapists and trainers are working on the same page as me to improve the lives of the animals in our care.

Thank you to my gorgeous friend and colleague Olivia Aka Biker girl dog trainer for hosting my first pain clinic with her.

I had the best day spending time with the most incredible care givers with their equally amazing and brave dogs. Some really interesting cases for me to absolutely geek out on.

Thank you to everyone we met today for trusting me with your pets, it means the absolute world to be a small part of their life and their journey to happiness and wellness.

Sorry I’ve been quiet on socials, life’s been crazy busy but I’ve still been spending time with my patients 🐶.

This gorgeous girl is Nell, who had her first pain clinic last week, which involved a deep dive into her health and behavioural history and clinical exam. She had acupuncture and laser therapy and lots of suggestions of useful lifestyle management bits and bobs were discussed.

This is what I’m best at, holistic care of pets. That means whole pet- mental and physical health.
Holistic care to me does not mean we avoid pain relief, it means we use appropriate medications, at the lowest effective dose and use the appropriate neutriceuticals to help protect the body.

Dr Esme Howells is a fear free certified Vet with 2 certificates in chronic pain management & acupuncture & 1 in emergency medicine and surgery, and is currently working towards her CCRP (Canine Certified Rehabilitation Practitioner).

Esme provides compassionate, specialised care through traditional acupuncture and modern pain management techniques tailored to your pets individual needs.

Treatments offered- Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture, laser therapy, PEMF, massage, medical management, exercise and lifestyle plans. She also offers a telemedicine service, including gait analysis via WhatsApp.

Sessions are open to new and existing clients.

Esme is incredibly reasonably priced for her expertise and experience:
- £165- Full pain clinic referral. Includes telemedicine gait analysis (sent via WhatsApp), 1 hour pain clinic and in-depth report, 15min phone call after a month and 15min revisit in-person consult after 3 months.
- £90 for initial acupuncture & additional therapy consult -45mins
- £65 for follow up acupuncture & additional therapy appointments- 30mins

All treatment is classed as veterinary treatment and can be claimed back on most pet insurance policies.

Wonderful charity coffee morning at Woof & Sip coffee shop and dog spa run by Laura’s mobile pet care services

Lots of money raised for Birkenhead Kennels 🐾🥰

I got the opportunity to meet some gorgeous dogs and their owners and talk all things dog, as well as explain what services I offer.

My little boy had a great time too, he especially loved the hot chocolate and Easter cookie 🍪 🥰. Delicious food and drinks available at Woof & Sip.
