Our first TICA show. We attended only 1 out of 2 days - kitten category. Just as a trial to see how our babies are feeling.
Bella was much braver than Barsik.
Barsik had comments on his good size but we still didn't make it to the finals.

Overall , I'll tick it off as a positive experience :) we may go again in September.

Yesterday I brought my beautiful Arisha and her babies home.

I've had some judgment for deciding to keep her ashes rather than scatter or bury them. But after a lot of thought, I've realized that I'm simply not ready to let her go in that way.

There isn't a special place where I could scatter her ashes and know with certainty that I would be able to return there years from now.
I'm not even sure that the home I own today will be my forever home. And if I buried her in the garden, I might one day have to leave that place behind too.

So for now, Arisha is staying with me.

While I miss her every day, I am also focusing on my other cats, who still need my care, attention, and love. They remind me daily that even in loss, life continues.
I have a TICA cat show to attend soon..

With a completely broken heart, I have to share that I have lost my beautiful girl Arisha tonight, along with her kittens.

After suddenly becoming unwell today - with no signs of illness yesterday , she was taken to vets and for emergency surgery. The vets discovered a twisted uterus, and despite every effort to save her, she sadly passed away during the operation.

We are devastated. She was our very first Maine C**n, the foundation of our cattery, and so much more than that — she was our pride and joy, full of personality, beauty, and love.

Thank you to everyone who had been waiting so excitedly for kitten news and to those who have already shown kindness and support. Right now we are grieving the loss of a truly special girl who can never be replaced......

Question to other breeders - what heating mats/ pads are you using please?
I've always used an UVB lamp but now I'm wondering if mats are a better option and which ones are safe to use and you would recommend ?
