I can testify that the horses are calmly enjoying their holiday in Aberdeenshire!

Last night we received a call asking if we could travel down near Cupar to collect two horses who had unfortunately been involved in a road traffic accident while travelling.

Without hesitation, we said yes and were on the road as quickly as we could.

Thankfully, everyone involved – both owners and horses – were physically okay, although understandably very shaken after such a frightening experience.

When we arrived, a kind local farmer had very generously kept the horses safe in one of his fields until we got there. We couldn’t be more grateful for his kindness.

The handsome cob walked straight into the trailer like the perfect gentleman. The thoroughbred, however, wasn’t quite so convinced – and honestly, who could blame him after everything he had been through that day?

We first tried encouraging him to follow his friend into the trailer, but that wasn’t happening. We then unloaded the cob, removed the partition to make the trailer feel more open, and even tempted him with some Stud Muffins… still no luck!

Finally, we rattled a bucket with some treats in it. Whatever he thought was inside clearly sounded too good to miss, because after around 30 minutes of patience and reassurance, he calmly walked in. We rebuilt the partition, loaded his cob friend back on, and set off on the journey home.

Considering what these boys had experienced earlier in the day, they travelled absolutely brilliantly. They stood quietly the entire journey, happily munching away on their hay.

Just after midnight, we arrived safely and reunited them with their owners before watching them head off into their field.

It was an absolute privilege to be able to help during such a stressful and emotional situation. We’re incredibly grateful that their owners trusted us with their precious cargo when they needed it most.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped these horses along the way, especially the kind farmer who kept them safe until we arrived.

We wish both horses and their owners all the very best and hope they recover from such a frightening ordeal.

If you ever find yourself in need of emergency horse transport, whether that’s an emergency trip to the vets at 3am, a breakdown requiring your horses to be safely transferred from your horsebox, or any other unforeseen situation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We know these situations are incredibly stressful, and we’ll always do everything we can to help get your horses to safety and where they need to be, no matter the time of day or night.

Reflecting on Sunday’s EMMETT 4 Dogs workshop, I appreciate my own learning (every time I teach I learn something) and hope that everyone feels they also have a better understanding of the EMMETT technique and are able to share what they learned with their canine friends.

For several of the students it was interesting to compare Emmett 4 Horses with the dog moves. So many similarities, after all we’re all living beings with skeletons, muscles and tendons!!

Another workshop is scheduled for 6th September at Logie Newton Farm, Huntly with others in the pipeline.

Feel free to get in you touch if you want more information.

Calm Rider - Calm Horse was something I set up when I first started this chapter of my life. I knew a number of people who had had a scare or an accident that was affecting their relationship with their equine friend. I knew that EFT aka Tapping could dissolve the negative emotions and leave them in a much better place, able to jump back on and remember why they fell in love with horses in the first place.

Last week I had an online session with someone who had had a negative experience on a hack which had left her not wanting to go up a particular lane.

We tapped through all the fears, worries and ‘what ifs’ then I suggested she go for a hack at the weekend. She did and this was her message on Monday.

« Hi Gillian,

I went up the lane, not only did I do it, I went along with someone else. When we were coming back I was going to bale as we unfortunately met a motorbike and X was stressing and being a dragon. However, I felt I remained calm and did my breathing. The bike did turn around so I stayed on not sure what I would have done if he had kept coming. When I was getting ready there was a young girl who I don’t know and don’t know her horse getting ready. So asked her what she was doing and she was going up the lane. I decided it was as good a time as any to join. Sometimes I am better when I know nothing about the horse. When I was thinking about doing it I was thinking even if I get half way to where it happened I will be pleased however managed it all on one piece xx »

Hacking out with another horse was going to be the next step but she managed a hack AND being in company!

It’s amazing how much we can achieve in one session! Feel free to get in touch if this resonates with you.
