Earlier this week we had the pleasure of visiting 14 year old Noah who had made a request to Forget Me Not Children's Hospice to spend time with some dogs. Noah is a big dog lover however his illness has prevented him from having one.

Ernie and Albert were more than happy to visit and spread the love to Noah and his lovely family 🤍

Today was weigh in for the boys. Ernie and Albert are both 7 and worried about a bit of middle aged spread. While Douglas the youngster at 3 has been on a couple of visits now and does like his biscuits so we wanted to see what he weighs. So we took them up to Northern Raw Feeds near Scammonden which is where we buy all our boys food. The dogs have thrived on their raw food and their natural treats and they also have scales big enough to cope with Douglas! So the results are little Albert 35kg, big Ernie 46 kg and even bigger Douglas 60kg! And yes they all do like to sit on a knee for a cuddle at home.

Yesterday the boys did their first home visit. We met a lady called Anji who suffers from multiple sclerosis. Anji has had dogs all her life and so a visit from Ernie and Albert was very welcome. We’re looking forward to visiting Anji again soon!

Part of training our therapy dogs is their own safety. We make sure that they only take food that is offered to them and they don’t pick anything up that may be in the floor or dropped accidentally. This is especially important if someone is on medication and may drop a tablet. Here big Ernie is practicing this, ignoring any biscuits that are dropped and only taking them from the hand.
