Good evening, lovely followers! Hope you’ve enjoyed the sunshine today ☀️

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

We’re right in the middle of our busiest time of year and currently have nearly 100 animals in our care. As a community rescue, we’re asking for your help with the following:

📦 Donated Items

• Concrete slabs

• Hose pipes

• Sheds (in reasonably good condition)

• Bird aviaries / chicken runs / dog kennels

• Electric poultry netting

• Chicken wire / mesh

• Anything else you think could be useful to us

🌱 Land & Release Sites

We are urgently looking for more soft release sites. This means:

• A large enough area of land to install a release pen

• A safe location — away from busy roads, and where animals will not be at risk of being shot or poisoned

• A committed person who can continue feeding and watering the animals daily, even after they are fully released

🤝 Volunteers

• Drivers: Needed in Horsham, Crawley, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, and along the Surrey / Sussex border. Full equipment and training provided.

• Hand rearers: This work is demanding and time‑consuming, but very rewarding. We’re looking for dedicated animal lovers who are willing to learn — again, full training and equipment provided.

💛 Financial Donations

Everything we do costs money, and we rely entirely on your donations to keep going. Every penny goes directly toward animal food, vet bills, fuel, and essential supplies. Without your support, we simply couldn’t help as many animals as we do.

If you are able to give, please visit our donation page to help keep our rescue running — every contribution truly makes a difference.

If you can help with any of the above, please send us a direct message or call our rescue line:

We will get back to you as soon as we can.

Thank you so much,

A huge thank you to West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service for coming to our rescue and helping free this poor jackdaw, who had unfortunately got himself stuck tight in a grate! 🚒💛

His wounds are superficial and should be healed in no time😌

Get out into nature ✅

With a catapult? ❌

Dangerous use of catapults puts wildlife, especially birds, at risk of serious injury and death.

Did you know that it’s a crime to kill, harm, or take a wild bird under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981?

Offenders can face an unlimited fine and up to six months in jail.

Help us protect our local wildlife; if you see someone using a catapult against wildlife report it to us.

If the crime is in progress call 999. Otherwise, you can report online or by calling 101.

📞 A quick update from Horsham Wildlife Rescue

We just wanted to let everyone know that we’re currently experiencing a much higher volume of calls and rescue requests than usual.

Our small team of volunteers is working as hard and as fast as we can, but this does mean it may take us a little longer than normal to get back to you or attend a situation.

We kindly ask:
✅ Please be patient with us — every call is important, and we will respond as soon as we’re able!
✅ Help where you can by containing and transporting the casualty.
✅ If you find an animal in need, please follow advice given to ensure the best possible outcome.

Thank you so much for your understanding and continued support — it means everything to us and the wildlife we care for 💚

A personal favourite of mine🙊…. BABY SEAGULL😍😍

Last year we took over 80 baby seagulls!! So this is just the beginning of what’s to come!🙈 They may be adorable, but these baby seagulls are hungry little birds, and feeding them adds up quickly.

⭐️ HOW YOU CAN HELP ⭐️

Just £3 will buy a seagull 1kg of fish! 🐟

Fish is a vital part of their diet because it helps them grow their natural waterproof coating. It’s not just food to fill their tummies — the oils in fish build the waterproof layer that keeps them warm, dry, and safe from the cold.

That’s why every £3 donation is so important: it gives them exactly what they need to grow strong and develop the waterproof feathers they must have to survive in the wild later on! 🥹

🌞 It’s hot for us… but imagine how hot it is for them! 💧

When the sun is beating down and the ground is bone dry, birds, hedgehogs, bees, and butterflies can’t find enough water to drink or bathe in. They suffer just like we do in this extreme heat 🥵

Putting out clean, fresh water is one of the easiest and most important things we can do right now. You don’t need a big garden – a simple dish on a balcony, doorstep, or windowsill works perfectly.

How to do it safely:
🪨 Always add stones, pebbles or twigs – tiny creatures can easily slip and drown
🌳 Put it in a shaded spot so the water doesn’t get too hot or evaporate straight away
🔄 Change it morning and evening to keep it cool and clean

Every drop helps. Thank you for looking after our wild neighbours 💙

Never a dull moment here at Horsham Wildlife Rescue! 🐦✨ Even on your day off the drama never stops.

Whilst out in Brighton with my besties doing some shopping I spotted this pigeon limping, after luring him closer with my chips I pounced surprising my friends and capturing him. On closer inspection we saw bright red string wrapped tightly around his foot, so after a bit of DIY surgery with what we had in our bags we managed to get all the string off and let him go… he didn’t fly far at all. Turns out he only wanted one thing: MORE CHIPS 😂🍟
