Hi guys
I need to update everyone, some of you know what’s going on and some do not. I’m sorry to say that I am struggling with everything that’s going at the moment and it has become increasingly obvious to me that I cannot keep working like I am. Many of you will have noticed over the past year that I am struggling to run the business to my usual professional standards. Especially in customer services and in some of my grooms. My body just can’t take this type of physical work anymore and it’s staring to show. Bending over a bath for over 20 years has ruined my back and pelvis and I’m also risking permanent damage to my shoulder I just don’t have the strength I did years ago. The pain is getting unbearable and that’s without the spiralling costs of running the business and some of the personal grief me and my family are going through at the moment. I feel I’m starting to break and I have my 2 baby girls to think of. So with great sadness I need to let you know that I will be retiring soon. I will try and stay open until Christmas and carry out the appointments that are already booked for this year but realistically I’m not sure if I’ll be physically able to. From January I’m going to try and work maybe one day a week with a few toy breeds that do not cause my chronic pain to worsen, give myself time to heal and be a more present and able mum for my girls moving forward.

I will always be here for advice and to help in any way I can that doesn’t send my back into spasm. I can teach you about maintaining and grooming your own dog, health advice, food, diet, nutrition and so on.
I will do my best to help everyone find and transition to a new groomer.

If your dog is 14+ years and I’ve looked after them most of their life I will keep grooming them until they pass.

I’ve just realised that today is the 20th anniversary of opening Perfect Paws! 🥳 I groomed my very first customer, a German Shepard in my Dads house in 2002. Man I feel old 😂 I actually started learning about dogs and started grooming in 1995 when I was just 11 years old, and the passion is still as strong today. Have a great day guys 🐾❤️🐾

Finally sorted! I have now reregistered
To be a GA pet food partner which means I can bring the food that my dogs thrive on (especially itchy Des) to you at a more affordable price than any other GA Partner. (little secret-You’ll find same recipes online but under different names, GA is the manufacture and is a manufacture with a big difference and you’ll see why.) I am asked almost daily about what I feed my sensitive allergy stricken dog to keep him well and comfy and here it is. dog food is a minefield to understand these days and is easy to get lost or confused as to what is good or bad, true or false and necessary for a fit, healthy and happy dog. I’ve created an information page where you will find a world of information about the food and why it is so different and more nutritious than the mainstream brands even those eye watering costly ones. It’s linked to a very simple online store. No big flashy website or advertising campaigns, no staff running things and all that stuff to keep costs down so I can pass the savings on to you and make this food more affordable for as many as possible. Average of £15-£20 cheaper than GA’s RRP! I earn my money through grooming so I’d rather see happier, healthier dogs than line my pockets with extra 😉 if you know me you know dogs really are my passion. ‼️covid news‼️
I hope everyone is staying safe and well

It seems the government have backtracked on DEFRA’s advice about dog grooming during lockdown which means legally we can go back to welfare prevention grooming that was implemented for the tier 4 rules. (No elaborate unnecessary styles/pamper sessions)
THIS DOES NOT MEAN BACK TO NORMAL APPOINTMENTS, some appointments may still need to be rebooked

welfare grooming covers

- Matted fur
- Skin conditions
- Fungal infections
- Allergies
- Brushing and basic haircuts to prevent matting
- Fur between pads causing slippage
- Unable see
- Poo stuck to bum
- Build up of eye grubs dried on
- Nails touching the floor
- Nails curling round toward the pad
- Ear infections/ear care for ears prone to infections
- Has been 10 weeks or more since last groom

If your dog is on my cancelled appointment list and has hasn’t been groomed for 10 weeks I will call to rebook.

‼️New Covid Update‼️
Government restrictions applied to our industry have been further tightened as of 12th January.

‘Regular / maintenance and welfare prevention Grooming is no longer acceptable as animal care/welfare from 12th January.

If you have genuine concerns that your dog is suffering due to extreme matting or other welfare issue PIF advise is to do a video call to assess the extent and then if a decision to free the dog from discomfort is made it would be a ‘very short’ clip off.

You, me or both can be fined (£200 you, £10,000 me) if you bring your dog for an appointment that is not for medical skin issues or to alleviate them from immediate suffering from existing matting, and their welfare is being compromised.

As you can imagine I am as distressed as you are that this is happening again. I am still here for help & advice during this lockdown so feel free to message for a video consultation if you feel your dogs coat is becoming a ‘real’ welfare issue.
