Did you know that 15 minutes of mental stimulation can be just as tiring for your dog as a 45-minute walk? If you have a high-energy dog, the "Watch Me" command is your secret weapon.

The ABC For Dogs Quick Drill:

Hold a high-value treat between your thumb and forefinger.

Bring the treat up to the bridge of your nose.

As soon as your dog makes eye contact with you (not the treat!), say "Yes!" and reward.

Building focus on you amidst distractions is the foundation for a reliable recall and a calmer dog in public.

Tired of your dog taking YOU for a walk? 🐾🚶‍♂️

Loose-lead walking is often the hardest skill to master, but it’s the most rewarding. If your dog turns into a sled dog the moment you hit the pavement, try the "Be a Tree" technique.

How it works:

The moment the lead goes taut, stop walking. * Stand perfectly still (like a tree).

Wait for your dog to look back at you or create some slack in the lead.

The moment the tension drops—REWARD and keep moving!

It teaches your dog that a tight lead is a "stop" button, and a loose lead is the "go" button. Consistency is everything!

We’ve all been there—the "puppy zoomies" hit, and suddenly your shoes (and ankles) are under attack. Before you lose your cool, remember: Puppies explore the world with their mouths!

Try this ABC For Dogs Pro-Tip: Instead of just shouting "No!", use the "Swap & Praise" method.

Keep a chew toy nearby at all times.

When those puppy teeth start to chew the skirting, gently redirect them to the toy.

The moment they bite the toy, give them enthusiastic praise!

You aren't just stopping a bad behaviour; you’re teaching them what to do. 🎾
