Not all grooms look the same and that’s okay🧡
Bud here is a very sweet boy who I met back in August 25 for the first time and is an essential part of his family as an emotional support dog for both his parents, who kindly gave me their permission to post Bud as an example in hopes to reach others who may be in a similar situation. Because as lovely and sweet as he is, when it comes to grooming the switch flips and the teeth and claws come out to play😂 He has come such a long way since August and even though the muzzle does stay on for the majority of the groom we can get it done in a calm and effective way as he’s a lot more tolerant and cooperative now, compared to the first time I could barely touch him without him snapping/snarling and getting too overwhelmed by the whole process which is why consistency is key in these types of situations. But sometimes that’s just the way dogs react to grooming or parts of it, especially if like in Buds case they’re a rescue and you’ll never really know what they’ve been through in their past. There can be many different reasons/triggers for a dog to be reactive or nervous during any part of the grooming process but I believe as in Bud’s case and with a few of my other clients that with time, patients, consistency and basically becoming a trusted friend of theirs, progress can be made and though it may never look like a completely perfect groom aslong as they’re calm and not getting too overwhelmed it can be done effectively and comfortably.

I dedicate most of my Thursdays to grooming reactive/nervous dogs so if you yourself have a dog with a coat that needs some maintenance or nails trimmed etc but you’ve maybe been a bit worried/hesitant about it for any reason please don’t hesitate it get in touch as I’m always happy to help where I can ☺️🧡✂️🐾
