⚠️ IMPORTANT EQUINE FLU UPDATE ⚠️
The risk of Equine Influenza in the UK is currently VERY HIGH and continuing to rise.
Recent outbreak analysis has shown that inadequate vaccination is a common factor in many cases, and while horse movement increases risk, equine flu can also spread through the air over several kilometres — even to yards with no recent travel activity.
We strongly encourage all horse owners, riders, producers, and competitors to take extra precautions. Vaccination is the best form of protection
📌 SHB(GB) Vaccination Policy Reminder:
• Primary vaccinations: 1st & 2nd vaccinations must be 21–60 days apart
• 3rd vaccination due 120–180 days after the 2nd
• Annual boosters required thereafter
⚠️ GIVEN THE CURRENT SITUATION, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND MEMBERS CONSIDER MOVING TO A 6-MONTH VACCINATION CYCLE.
Further advisory notes from the British Equestrian’s Equine Infectious Advisory Group [EIDAG] will be available on our website shortly.
Please help protect the wider equestrian community by remaining vigilant and following strict biosecurity measures.
