HESTER (top) and BLING

The two SHB(GB) Elite, Head Stud Book mares ridden by Laura Collett had strong runs in the CCI-S4* at Burnham Market International sponsored by Barefoot Retreats with Lucy Nelson’s HESTER finishing in 2nd place and Yvonne Ferguson’s BLING in 6th, in a section of 70 starters. Both mares are homebred, Hester is by the Hanoverian sire, Heinrich Heine out of Blue Anna and Bling by Kannan out of a TB mare, Moody Margaret. Neither mare received any jumping penalties but were just a little over the time on the cross country.
Steve Sykes’ PRIMITIVE PROPOSITION jumped clear inside the time to complete the CCI-S3* in 13th place on his dressage score of 36.2, following an Intermediate win at Oasby (1). The homebred 8 year old gelding is by the SHB(GB)graded TB stallion, Primitive Proposal out of a Belgian mare, Bon Philija Van De Start and was ridden by Andrew James.
In the Advanced section, Sarah Bullimore finished in 4th place on CORIMIRO, owned and bred by Sarah and her husband Brett. By Amiro Z the 9 year old gelding is out of their top mare, Lilly Corinne. Just behind in 5th place was BEE NAROUND ridden by Josie Proctor for owner Imogen Coughlan. She is by the SHB(GB) graded TB stallion, Revolution out of The Bees Knees V and was bred by Rosemary Search.
CEVALIAN FIFA was 3rd with Fiona Davidson in their Intermediate section, they had a dressage score of 31.1 and added 6 time penalties to complete their first outing of the season on 37.1. Fiona and David Davidson’s 11 year old gelding is by Royaldik out of Woodbine French Royale and was bred by Doo Rickett. In the other Intermediate section JUMBELISSA was 5th ridden by Tom Rowland. The mare now has 34 BE points and was bred by her owner, Nicola Carmichael by Jumbo out of Myth. PRF MADE IN ENGLAND (Jaguar Mail - Charlesfield Diva III) gave a very good account of herself to finish 10th in this, her first Intermediate, with Lucinda Atkinson, who owns her together with Amanda Rowe and Jane Crossley. She was bred by Pauline Fletcher.
George Vergerson-Rowley finished 5th in the Open Novice on his own 15 year old mare, POPPY’S LAW, finishing on their dressage score of 33.3. Poppy’s Law is by the SHB(GB) graded Mill Law out of Miss Cooper and was bred by Nicola Dickson.
Around the country there were many other successful horses that are registered in the SHB(GB) stud book. At Larkhill, PARKFIELD PUMPKIN won the Novice section A ridden by Sammi Birch. Sammi also finished in 3rd place on Nick Gauntlett’s homebred, ROSA’S PARTY. The 7 year old mare is by Nick’s late SHB(GB) graded stallion Party Trick (Chilli Morning - DHI Party Piece) out of the Westfalian mare, Fidellia. Rosa’s Party has 6 BE points, 5 won this season and 26 Foundation points. Parkfield Pumpkin is slightly more experienced at 9 years old and has 28 BE points under his belt. He is by Amiro Z out of an Oldenburg mare, Furistica and is owned and was bred by Parkfield Breeding. He started the season with a 2nd place in the BE100 Open at Oasby (1) sponsored by Agria and followed up with a 3rd place in a Novice at Barbury Castle. Also at Larkhill, FAIRLIGHT ANDRETTI, won a BE90 Open with Caroline Harris, on their dressage score of 26.5 in just the six year olds second event. Fairlight Andretti was bred by Jo Sholl- Evans by her own SHB (GB) graded stallion Sir Shutterfly out of Redanna (IRE), a TB mare and he is now owned by Karen Walker.
At Speetley (1) in Derbyshire all three BE100 sections were won by horses in the SHB(GB) stud book. HEGGLELANE ST. LOUIS won section A having been 2nd earlier in the season at Horseheath ridden by Heidi Coy for owner Deborah Remijn. Bred by Denise Richardson-Rowell he is by her SHB(GB) graded stallion, Hollywood out of May Flower XII(GB). 2nd in this section was CENTER OF ATTENTION by Cendy out of a Westfalian mare, Mintaka. He was ridden by Alexander Tordoff for the HLH Horsing Around Syndicate and was bred by Joan Grey. Sections O and P were won by Max Warburton riding for Trevor Dickens who also bred both winners. The 6 year old mare, GRAF MAGIC , took section O, she is by Jaguar Mail out of Graf Cavalier, an Advanced mare by Grafenstolz. Section P was won by VANIR CAMIRO another by Jaguar Mail out of the great mare, Vanir Kamira ridden by Piggy French to win Badminton and Burghley.
Two BE 90 sections were also won by horses sired by SHB (GB) graded stallions. Section S was won by the Grafenstolz son, DRAW THE LINE II who is out of Bow. Owned by Su Jones and ridden by Charlotte Jones he was bred by Sarah Jewson.
DANCE WITH THE STARS was successful in section R, ridden by William Scott for owner, Kerry Arnold-Herrick. He was bred by Carolyn Bates by her SHB(GB) graded KWPN stallion, Wish Upon A Star out of Jabba, a grand -daughter of Jumbo.
At Eland Lodge (1), Aimee Penny took the top two places in the BE90 Open, winning with PSH BULLION and coming 2nd on PSH PREROGATIVE, both owned and bred by Gary Power. They both finished on their dressage scores of 23.5 and 25.3 respectively and are both by the SHB(GB) graded stallion, PSH Overture. PSH Bullion is out of a TB mare, Kazara who is by Kayf Tara and the dam of PSH Prerogative is Whatever Miss, a KWPN mare. They are both stepping up to BE100 at Kelsall Hill International.
There will be plenty more action over the Easter weekend and then it’s only just over two weeks to Badminton Horse Trials
