I had a fantastic, inspiring day at Pencoed Campus attending the BD technical training day for coaches and judges. Massive thanks to Harry Payne and Hannah Moody for making the day so enjoyable and sharing some of their vast knowledge and expertise. One of the reasons I love Dressage is because it is one of those sports where you can keep improving, keep learning and appreciating the complexity and beauty of balance and harmony. Even as I get older, its still exhilarating to experience bits of the jigsaw falling into place whether its me, my horse or someone I am coaching.

Lovely day out yesterday at Usk College. I am so lucky to have this fabulous venue so close to me. A great pre regional run for Steve Tolley's gorgeous boy Kasper O. He was a little star and we did two solid medium tests for 69%. Big thank you to Simon Rees for the fab photos!

Having video feedback is one of the most useful tools we have, so over time I have developed a few strategies to help make the most out of them.

When training at home you have the chance to choose what to film. It's important to consider what angles and exercises are going to be the most helpful.

Knowing what to focus on and how to use the feedback is key.

By using some simple techniques, instead of seeing all the things you did wrong you can be more objective and gain valuable insight and information that really helps you to improve.

Who finds dressage tests a bit confusing?!
What does the judge really want to see?

There is a reason why the BD tests are written the way they are but its not always obvious how best to present them to a judge.

The first clinic at Weir End Equestrian on Sunday 24th May we are going to be looking at individual movements from current BD tests, at whatever level you would like to work on, from intro to advanced.

Knowing how to present individual movements for the best marks will help to make more sense of the whole test and the demands of each level.

Even if you don't compete in dressage the sessions will be really valuable in helping you with suppleness, balance, control ....all the good stuff!

We can do half hour private sessions or shared sessions for up to three people. £30 per person
