I don’t think many people realise what goes into a grooming appointment — and if I’m honest, I didn’t either before I became a dog groomer.
The haircut?
That’s one of the smallest parts of the job.
What most people don’t see is everything happening behind the scenes: the preparation, the careful handling, the patience, the focus on safety, the cost of professional products, equipment upkeep, cleaning, and the everyday running costs like fuel, water, van expenses. It all adds up. You don’t see the patience it takes to safely groom a wriggly paw, or the pauses needed to help a nervous dog feel calm. You might not notice the matting hidden under the coat and the care taken to remove it without causing discomfort. You don’t see the small things we pick up on — like skin irritation or lumps.
So when you see the final price, you’re not just paying for a “haircut” —
you’re paying for the time, care, and skill it takes to have your dog looking and feeling their absolute best 🐶✨
I completely understand that prices have increased, and it can feel like a big jump.
But it’s not personal 🤍
It’s simply the reality of what it costs to run a grooming business properly, safely, and to a high standard!
