A warning for those of you that has a dog that enjoys a game of fetch on the beach....
Today I read a post from someone who had spent the day throwing a ball for her dog on the beach which the dog adored. Later that day the dog became very unwell, thinking he had possibly eaten something poisonous on the beach and his owner took him to the vets. It turned out the dog had ingested a lot of sand - which had lead to 'sand impaction' where the sand collects in the stomach and moves on to the intestines causing a blockage. Her dog was lucky but it can be fatal.
If I see the original post again I'll share that but wanted to warn others.
