I’ve been sitting with this for a while, trying to find the right words.
When I started this business, I truly believed I could power through. I thought that by walking more, moving more, and pushing myself, the pain would ease. Instead, my body has been asking me to slow down louder and louder...
Over the past months, my health has declined in ways I can’t ignore anymore. During flare-ups, I can barely use my hands, even holding cutlery or using the laptop hurts. Writing more than a couple of sentences causes painful cramps. My knees seize up, and once I kneel down, getting back up isn’t guaranteed (without great pain). I’m currently undergoing tests, X-rays and seeing both a physio and a rheumatologist, but for now there are still more questions than answers. At 34, I’ve also been told I’m very likely hypermobile, on top of everything else.
I’ve spent most of my life “just pushing through” and doing my best. But despite my efforts, things aren’t improving...and ignoring my body any longer isn’t an option.
Because of this, I need to rethink how I work. Moving forward, I’ll be gradually shifting my focus away from dog walks and towards cat sitting and pop-ins, which are much kinder on my body.
My current regular dog clients, the ones who already know me and my situation, will remain the same.
This hasn’t been an easy decision. I care deeply about the animals I look after and the people who trust me with them. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and kindness while I navigate this unexpected chapter. 🫂❤️
If cat sitting or pop-ins might suit your needs, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to chat and see if I’m the right fit.
